When I am driving with the Cruise Control on,if i want to de-activate it with the brake pedal,it can't be done with a simple tap of the pedal. It seems I need to depress the pedal quite a bit,to the point that the brakes are slightly applied.I'm thinking also that it requires quite a bit of depression to turn on the brake lights.Does any one know if there is a spec for the amount of pedal movement required in these situations? I know years ago it was a simple switch that contacted the pedal arm and it was adjustable.Havent looked under the dash of the Taco to see if it is the same setup as yrs ago.

Why not use the cancel feature on the cruise control switch? If you pull in towards you it will de-activate.

Tapping the brake definitely works for me.

Yeah, thats what I use on this truck..but as well I'm concerned about the amount of pedal required to turn on the brake lights.

I had an older.ford with that issue. Was actually dangerous. My cruise didn't turn off when I was going sixty. Slowed down to 25 the the car floored it when I was close to a stop light
I'd get it checked out since yours is so new.
Brake switch can probably be adjusted just a bit.

'Tapping the brake pedal' does not work for my 2020 either. I have to apply enough force to the brake pedal to de-activate, that the nose of the truck dips. So now, I use the CC button on the stalk to de-activate. Seems odd to me, since my 2011 Tacoma would de-activate CC if my foot got near the brake pedal. (Ok not that sensitive) but it was a light tap. lol

Mine is a noticeable depression of the brake to turn it off. Definitely not "just a tap".

I use the cancel feature on the little CC stalk.

My 2018 deactivates with just a light touch as I think all should. Could be a safety issue.
Maybe there is some type of adjustment I'd ask the dealer about.
If you mention you're concerned for your safety that may get their attention.

It's probably designed like that to warn others behind you. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, everyone has a different opinion on driving practices. I use the cancel, I can't stand when someone uses the brakes on the highway, unless there's an emergency situation.

I’d get it checked OP, it should disengage as soon as you tap the pedal.

Just a quick tap on my 18 works great. Slowing for traffic is not an emergency so I guess I should not press hard enough to activate my brake lights so I don't piss off people who hate brake lights

I will have to check to see how our 2019 and 2021 work. I have always used the cancel function. I will follow up after testing.

A light tap on the break on the 2021 disengages the cc for me.

I'm 95% sure the stop light switch triggers brake lights and cuts cruise control. It is mounted on an adjuster. If you have techstream you can apply the pedal and see when it triggers to set it how you want.

I drove to town this afternoon in the 2021 and I just tapped the pedal and the cruise deactivated.
