Good to know. Thank you for the feedback. Are you running the high octane tune?

It's crazy how people can think that running down the hi-way, over the little overpass hills, that's it's ok for the engine to red line to hold speed, I mean really?

I’ll say I have the ovtune. It’s fixed a lot of issues, cruise control still struggles though. I’m looking forward to seeing if the latest update from Toyota paired with ovtune improves that any.

Its definitely normal for these trucks. But if you want to know how crazy it seems, have a new passenger with you when it happens. They’ll get bug eyed, grab the o shit handle, and then look at your gage expecting to see you’ve floored it to 95 mph. Then they’ll ask “what was that”

No. The guy that tuned my truck did the new TSB first before he installed the OV tune. Drove the truck 2.5 hours home and was amazed how well it drove.

Come on if it wasn't supposed to downshift up a hill Toyota wouldn't have made it do that. Toyota would save so much damn money on engineers if they would just hire Tacomaworld instead.

Serious? I don’t think I’ve seen my 4Runner hit that before on CC.

My 2018 and 2020 are the same way. I end up kicking off cruise control on the hills and doing to myself. I can keep it in 4th on the big hill I drive over. Otherwise if you let CC do it it will be in 3rd, then 6th, then 3rd then 6th. Sigh.

Still normal...... I can't believe some people say it's normal for an engine to redline going down the road. It should only tack out if it's floored and held there.

The only way my cruise control behaves is when I’m in D and ECT on. The tranny doesn’t hunt for gears like when I was in S4 or S5 with ECT on. I also use the non-TSS cruise control, not sure if that makes a difference.
