On my 1999 2.7L Auto, I have noticed the cruise control does not work as it should.

When I attempt to engage, it will either slow the truck down atleast by 5mph than the speed I was at when engaging. Or it doesn't engage at all.

I'm not entirely sure how the cruise control cable should be adjusted to correct this or if that's the issue.

Any one have an idea or suggestion?

Hmmm, not sure. I hopped on because I have a 97 2.7L and sometimes the cruise will be on and randomly disengage while driving, as if I hit the brake.

I'm sure the motors that hold the throttle cables go bad eventually, that could be your problem. Since it's trying to engage in my mind that means it's probably not electrical.

I had an issue on my other non toyota truck and it was a bad brake switch that was causing the cruise to disengage (the truck was thinking the brake pedal was being pressed)
