my cruise control light started blinking yesterday.

"seemingly" at random it would flicker then go off by itself then start to blink at a steady pace, similar to how your turn signal would, and the CC would stop working anymore after tapping the brakes until I turn the CC off then back on and then it would work perfectly fine again.

I soon made the connection that is was only doing this after I tapped the brakes then tried to hit the resume button and then it just did it anytime I hit the brake so I had to turn the CC off then back on to use it again.

today it would not shift out of park and I had to use the shift lock release that keeps you from shifting until your foot is on the brake pedal so I knew then it was brake light switch related so I ordered a new one.

it seams the flash warning is not just about the cruise control side of the switch but also for the brake light side of the switch and will trigger the flashing for any issue such as a blown tail light fuse and this loss of power also disables the cruise control until it is turned off then back on to reset it.

turns out my problem was just a blown 10a tail light fuse in the dash fuse box so I replaced te switch for no reason but it was cheap and easy to replace so :notsure:

this is just an FYI post because I wanted to put this out there in case anyone else has these strange symptoms happen so that they would know whats going on and to be aware that it means you have no working brake lights anymore so check your fuse and if its good then replace the brake light switch.

as a footnote, I find it rather overkill to disable the shifter AND the CC just because I have a blown tail light fuse. a simple flashing brake light indicator is all it should need, but its like hitting you over the head with a sledge hammer when a tap on the shoulder is all that was required.

hope this info about my experience becomes helpful to someone out there
