    With alcohol.

Story goes like this. Busted the spiral cable a while ago.... And just got around to replacing it. When I took apart the wheel I found the cruise control plug has 2 wires broken. I looked at them to hard and the others broke as well. The wires had been made a hair to short for their route. So I'm attempting to fix the plug I stead of giving Toyota almost 200 bones.

I found the Toyota connectors for the power door system in their wiring catalog, I was trying to create an OEM retrofit kit to convert your manual doors. They wanted $6 for the connector housing. It's expensive, but not outrageous considering it's discontinued.

And then I found out they wanted $5 PER PIN. That's where they get ya. The driver's side door has two door connectors, with something like 12 pins each. At 96 pins for the driver and passenger side harness, Toyota would charge a whopping $504 dollars for four connector housings and 96 pins that probably cost a thousandth of a cent to manufacture.

As much as I appreciate the offer, it was because the wires were to short. The option in my opinion are to solder extensions and then terminate a new plug. This way there is only one solder joint per wire.

Omg that is amazing. Thankyou kind sir and @mechanicjon

@Greensystemsgo I have also posted this connector reference list before. This is all of the connectors for a 1999 Tacoma, it was in the wiring diagram from Toyota TIS.

These are the repair pins from toyota mentioned earlier in this thread running $5 a pin from toyo.

Here is the pins themselves running for 29 cents each.

Here is where I found this information. Sumitomo is an oem supplier, so I have high hopes.

Now I am just gonna peek around the site and see if there is any other cool stuff I need.

Keep in mind not all connectors use the same size pins. You can use the master wiring manual to figure out what size you need.

    This escalated fast.

Repaired the cruise control plug with those pins. Works great.

Noticed the steering column was making a creak. (The clutch pedal also creaks again, 2nd set of bushings, time to make some brass bushings), so I investigated and found the intermediate shaft ujoint was bad, ordered that along with bearings and races for inside the column all the way through. Forgot the dust boot though the cab firewall though, 45292-35090, if anyone is interested. Also replaced the turn signal switch. I've suspected a very rare fault that blows my turn signal fuse. Or flasher. I also got a flasher unit extender cable so they are easier to change.

Also, had an axle shaft bind up. Whoops. Found the other one actually had more horizontal play at load. Whoops. Got them both out in 15 minutes each, and the column in 30. Gonna replace the axle/diff seals, ordered them on prime. Xo Amazon.
