    Hi,

I have a 2008 Double Cab 4x4 Tacoma. 3 days ago my cruise control switch stoped working. I noticed that it doesn't work unless the steering wheel is turned about 60 degrees to the left or to the right, and only then It'll turn on.

I've read it could be the "spiral cable" on the steering wheel but I haven't found anything specific to my problem. Any Ideas??

    Thank you!

It sounds like a damaged wire or connector. You need to remove the horn/airbag section of the steering wheel to see any of it. It can be done in about 10 minutes with a few hand tools. The jumper harness that connects the cruise stalk to the spiral cable is inexpensive and easy to test and replace.

Along with the attached file, I used the photos here to install cruise in my truck yesterday:

If you're not going to pay the dealer to diagnose the problem, be careful with the airbag.

Rolex, did you fix it? The cruise control in my 07 will usually not work as well. Sometimes, it will, but usually, it does not.

I'm getting an intermittent flashing cruise light on my 2007 Tacoma. The problem just started today. The cruise works when the light isn't flashing, but fails when the fault comes on. Has anyone had experience and/or success with the fixes discussed above?

Mine just recently started acting up...don't know why. Worked fine last weekend till I shut the truck off. Two days later same thing...

there is recall on spiral cable, you should get it changed anyway, i got the notice like 2 yrs ago, put it off, started having random dash lights come on sometimes and other odd random things, kept putting it off. my air-bag dash light started staying on, well i got in an accident and my airbags didn't go off. went in for recall. fixed all the random stuff, no issues, no lights on dash, etc.

you should have received a notice in the mail. just call your local dealer, its free takes a couple hours. get them to do the pedal recall too while your there.

By chance do you have a short in your brake lights? That'll trip it.
