Once I set my cruise on my 2018 to any speed allowed I cannot use the speed up function and reset a new speed.

What i mean: once i set to say 55mpg and then decide i want to speed up to 60 via the cruise control up arrow. I want to set it now at 60 but the cruise control does not allow.

I turn on the cruise to a speed, turn off the cruise, get to my new speed and reset the cruise.

    Normal for the Tacoma?

Nope. The only thing that could be happening is you are trying to speed up when too close to another vehicle. The safety sensor will keep you at a set distance from them even if your cruise is set to 160mph.
If there is no traffic ahead of you then I am thinking you need to discuss with the dealer.

Could be the safety sense if you're following somebody. You should be able to hold the stalk up though and the C.C. speed (above the actual speed) should go up. I just hold mine up or down until it hits the desired speed, the truck then accel/decels accordingly.

On mine when I set the cruise it shows the speed it is set at, when I click the lever up or down it moves my set top speed up or down accordingly. It will update that number even if the vehicle won't speed up due to being too close to the car in front of you. If that number isn't updating, then take it to the dealer cuz something's up.

1 click of the stock up or down, equals 1 mph +/- of CC speed. Or hold till desired speed is reached.

Thank you. I had not thought about the safety portion. I will try tomorrow morning on my commute without following others.

There's two spots. One that displays your current speed. The cruise speed will display in smaller font just above and to the right of the regular speed readout. If you're not looking for it, it could be easily missed.

Ah, okay. Now I really have to investigate tomorrow. Wish the truck would drive itself like the Honda CRV while doing these checks! I see an accident in my future!

Are you increasing to 60 then trying to reset your cruise?

    You've got a 17. It's part of TSS in the 18s. I'm sure that's why you haven't seen it.

I used cc on 18 hours of freeway driving recently, loved the adaptive cruise control, was able to adjust speed with controller.

Well, I did my morning commute test...Yes, I can increase/decrease with the up/down arrow on the control itself. I cannot set the cruise control at say 55 then speed up via the gas pedal and set a new speed at say 65. It goes back to the original speed of 55 no matter if anyone is in front of me or not.

I still have to turn off the cruise then reset at the new speed.

With this issue, is this something I need to bring the truck in to the dealership to check?

    Thank you again.

It's working as it should. If you want to speed up with the pedal, turn off cruise, then reset once you're at the desired speed. I actually prefer adjusting with the switch myself.

If you hold down the cruise control button for like 3 seconds it will convert to normal cruise control and you’ll see the display change from “radar ready” to “cruise control” and that should allow you to speed up and down with the cruise control lever. I have to do that on my wife’s car because she has the TSS and I can’t stand it lol

Sounds like the adaptive CC is working the way it should. Takes a little getting used to. I only use it on longer trips with light to moderate traffic. One tap turns on adaptive radar CC or press & hold for regular CC. From there you can also set the sensitivity to how close you follow behind the vehicle in front of you. Kinda nice that it displays your CC speed in the top right corner. Didn't even notice the first couple times!

Can't you just press 'set' at your new speed? Otherwise yeah it's going to revert back to your set speed of 55.

I'm able to do this with my 17 just fine. Maybe just a side affect of the TSS?
