Hello everyone, my name is Emily! I hope yal are having a great day so far! I have a 2014 automatic baseline Tacoma. My truck didn't come with cruise control, and I have a bit of a lead foot! So I ordered a cruise control switch and had a guy from a Toyota dealership come to install it. The switch came without wires, and he said they don't have a wire yet for my truck. I called the company that I ordered the switch from, and he told me to get on here because he was pretty sure there is a wire to install the switch. Any info would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

cruise control is already wired just plug the switch in the steering wheel socket

if you are using an OEM toyota cruise switch that is

you may need a new steering wheel cover or cut a hole in yours so switch fits

Thank you everyone for your help!! I have the spot in my steering column for the cruise control, but there is no wires in there to plug into. ittywygms I clicked on the link you gave me, and I clicked on the cruise control wire. It was for KIA will that also work for mine? moe2o4 Thank you so much! But when the guy came to look at it, we tried to find other options. We also found the whole kit, but it was for a manual and he said it wouldn't work for my automatic.

    That is a bit expensive.

If I remember correctly, I was able to buy just the necessary wires. I purchased the cruise stalk here on the forums.

Let me dig around a little and see if I can find where I got my stuff from.

Basically, I had to run a wire from the steering column to the cpu. And plug in the small wiring harness to the wires in the steering column to make mine work.

I had cruise installed by the dealer when I bought my '13 base PreRunner. They discovered that the truck was not already pre-wired as they thought, and had to fabricate a complete harness. Sounds like yours may be the same way.

Yes BKill I think so! Is it expensive to have a dealer install it?

The best way is to go to the dealer and get a quote. You may need to go to different dealers as all do not charge the same thing. One dealer quoted me on my Toyota over 600 dollars for parts plus labor and another did it for 300 parts and labor.

I negotiated my cruise installation as part of my truck purchase. They gave me a price and I told them I'd take it at that price if they'd install cruise. They came back with a slightly higher price if I got the cruise installed. I figure it was a couple of hundred dollars.

I did run across this when I was researching putting my cruise control switch in. The Toyota factory switches don't come with the wire to run from the switch to the harness, as you have found out. If I were you I would return it if you can and order a Rostra, which does come with the wires and takes 15 minutes to install even if you are minimally mechanically inclined.

There is not a different switch or wires for a manual. The only difference is that you have to install a clutch switch, but you don't have to worry about that.

It took a while to come. I needed to upgrade the wire harness to include the ground for the airbag. The stealership had it for $80 cdn. Just installed. It all works. FYI. The dealership wants $165 for the stalk and u still have to buy the wire kit.
    Took 10 min to install.
Mines a base model prerunner and it was prewired. I think they all are.
