i was on an interstate today with the cruise control on. all of a sudden, the truck slowed down, the cruise control was no longer working. i tried to restart it a couple of times to no avail. i couldn't read the display while driving, but i think it read "cruise control not available". about 5 minutes later i could reset it. i thought what the hell was that all about?

    Oh look, another mod....
You turned on the adaptive cruise control. I had that same problem when I first bought my truck. If you press the cruise control, the adaptive cruise control comes on. If you press AND hold it for 5 seconds, the normal cruise control comes on.

Not sure why you'd get the "not available" message unless perhaps your front sensors were too dirty to read. But if that's the case then turning off adaptive cruise should fix that.

The first month I owned the truck I would turn on adaptive cruise control (not knowing any better) and it would occasionally shut off or shut down. I remember once, it was raining hard, so hard that it caused the sensor to malfunction. I pulled into a covered area and with the truck still running, wiped the sense clean & dry with a paper towel. That fixed it.

The next day I learned how to turn ACC off. I have not had a problem with cruise control since.
