I’m missing everything under the hood to have a functioning cruise control. I know I need a servo & cable. What else is needed? Does anyone have pics of the setup under the hood? I plan on searching junkyards for the parts. Thanks in advance.

There is actually a write up on this site by a guy named Pachya that did it on his truck. His was a V-6 but the 2.7 shouldn’t be that different. Has lots of pictures to give you an idea of what to look for.

Here is the wiring diagram for the cruise system, looks like you need the Cruise Control ECU, Cruise Control Actuator, and Cruise Control Switch at a minimum if your truck is pre-wired.

Hopefully you have this connector in your engine bay....

    mystery connector | Tacoma World

    and one of these....

For 2001-2004 Toyota Tacoma Cruise Control Switch SMP 95567DP 2003 2002 | eBay

and a place and connector on the cowl harness for this....

SMP T-Series Cruise Control Release Switch for 1997-2005 Toyota Tacoma - la | eBay

may have to buy the whole brake pedal bracket to accommodate that switch...
I've got a whole backup one out in the shed.....I'll go look at that tomorrow...
    maybe post some pics.....

If you plan on keeping these old girls running....there's a strategy on obtaining rare parts that will eventually become 'Unobtanium'....

There's a green light that lights up on my cluster when engaged.....
....I'm all ears on what you discover......

I use my cruise everyday.....dont know what I'd do without it....

Thanks. Mine had it but the PO removed the servo & TB cable. When I push the switch on the column it lights up green.

Will do. I believe I have the mystery connector. There’s a couple there not being used. PO removed the servo & cable. Switch on column lights up green when I push it.

It’s my daughter’s truck, but I plan on keeping it when she moves on from it. I’ve already ran into hard to find parts.

    ...

All those cables I put a wrap around them to insulate them from the open headers below......so it doesn't cook all the lube out....

especially the trans kick down cable.....that one comes within inches of the headers...

I think the your exsisting pedal to TB cable is the same as the pedal to cruise unit..

so you should have to aquire the cruise to TB one....

If I remember correctly....that one was unobtanium in the US....would of had to order it from Japan or Dubui...

that's the reason when I saw that whole unit on ebay for $130 with the two cables....I grabbed it....
cables alone would have set me back $230....

each one of the cables are north of $100.....and then the kick down cable....
    hence the insulation efforts....

I appreciate your help. When I get home later I’ll take under hood pics of connectors & TB.

That looks like a Rostra set up. Gulf States would add an aftermarket system to trucks that didn’t have cruise. It was built by Rostra.

I think it’s aftermarket. This is one just like it.

How would I find out if the truck had factory cruise before? Are there RPO codes like for GM?
