I was searching online for a replacement filter so I could change the oil on my new Tacoma. I came across a writeup for 05-07 Tacomas hoping to find a part number. The writeup mentioned a crush washer that needs to be replaced. I've never seen this on any other car that I've done service on.

What is this? Where do I get it? From the dealer? My truck is a V6 2009.

You can get it from the dealer... it's a washer that goes around your oil drain plug... I don't use them - and have no issues... :)

+1. Sometimes you have to ask for it, but they have never charged me for it...they just toss one in the box.

I must be in the minority here, but my truck/bikes always get new crush washers. They're cheap and easy so I replace them. I tend to obsess over leaks.

    My dealer charges for everything!
They put a washer in the box then charge 6.99 for the filter.
I bought a box of 10 online $30 shipped from a dealer in NH.
Got bunch of crush washers in the same box for free.
My dealer can keep their stinking washer/filter combo!
