Heading down I-70 last night about 75mph I noticed a mattress box springs sitting in my lane about 100ft ahead of me when a car switched lanes abruptly. I was boxed in and couldn't switch lanes... and the dog was in the bed so I didn't want to slam on the brakes. So, I just nailed that fuckin' box springs at about 50mph. Totally destroyed that fucker! Heard it crunching under the weight of the 3rd gen behemoth. The little sedan behind me had to stop and I noticed traffic backing up as I just kept on cruising.

Truck seems fine. Anything you think I should inspect? I took a quick glance under the truck and didn't notice any damage... no leaking fluids.

I was just starting to get bummed about my truck and this made me happy. 10 minutes before this the LCAs were whistling that old familiar tune and I noticed my topper squeaks like mad with the rear slider open. It sounded like the fucked up 3rd gen symphony. I wanna get like 10 x 3rd gens to roll down the street squeaking and whistling like old beaters... what a beautiful orchestra!

My brother and I were doing 60mph on I5 in Seattle on a 1992 Civic CX in the left lane. I jumped a mattress and the car crashed into the freeway divider and proceeded to spin about 10 times across all lanes of traffic. I didn't hit any other cars. Finally came to rest on the other side facing traffic perfectly on the shoulder. I jumped out and after all this a douche pulls up and says, "can you move your car a little"? Seriously?

The next day I examined the car and it had damage underneath from riding ON TOP of the center freeway divider. It happened so quickly I don't remember that part.

    Pretty gnarly.

LOL, that sounds like bad news! You'd think you'd just cruise over a soft mattress... sounds like you got lucky man.

Inspect your brake lines, gas tank and crucial stuff closely, ebrake cable and wiggle stuff around! Other than that, rock on killer!

I slipped on some oil on my bike once. It was a really fast low-side, but I just got up and got my bike to the roadside. There was a couple sitting on the guard rail (they had hit the same oil) waiting for the tow truck. They told me I had high-sided! So much for time "slowing down" during an accident.

Nice ... way to not panic swerve like a lot of people would.

A few months ago I was in a similar spot when the vehicle in front of me made an abrupt lane change and I realized I was headed at a giant puddle of wet cement ... a mixer had just dropped part of its payload in the right lane of the 101 ... no option but to go right through it. Coated my wheel wells and splash guards with wet cement spray. Couldn't get to the car wash until after work and it was pretty dry by then ... took a lot of quarters and elbow grease to get it off.

Now this would be my luck! In the DFW Metroplex it's ladders, they seem to grow right out of the roadway, I see those freaking things everywhere. At least once a month I have a close call with one, luckily I scan way ahead and so far I've managed to avoid them.

^Luckily the worst debris I've driven over on the highway was a wooden pallet. No damage to the truck. I think I had the stock Rugged Fail tires at the time too.

Was driving down the highway in my old 1st gen that had full armor. A lawn truck dropped a trash can full of leaves or grass on the highway so I purposefully cut across 3 lanes (it was empty) and rammed that fucker. Rather have it hit my bumper and skid plate than take out the front end of another car. Looked behind me and a cop watched me do the whole thing lol oops

Oh man, that is a bummer... I think I'd rather hit the box springs!

Ahaha! Nice, I think I'll do more "seek and destroy" in the future.

Somebody with more skills than me needs to remove the sound from this Tacoma commercial and replace it with the Tacoma Symphony... a caucophony of squeaks, whistles, clunks, etc. That would be freaking hilarious. Maybe I'll mess around with iMovie when I get home. Whistling LCAs, squeaking leaf springs, humming rear diffs, squeaky brakes, squeaky body mounts, clunking tranny... we've got all the instruments necessary!

Get the plugs for your LCAs. Your topper squeaking? Like the roof top? Or a aftermarket bed topper?
