    Amen!

We had a few of those videos too I think, but I can't remember for sure. I KNOW they simulated a car crash into the brick gazebo/band stand thing in front of the high school. Had the fire/rescue squad come in with jaws of life to cut people out of the car. Most of us thought it was pretty cool, and the concept of death didn't really settle in. However, we did see how smashed up the car would be, and we didn't have many car accidents in my area. Mostly kids learning to drive hitting mailboxes and crap by accident.

Then again, we grew up driving mom or dad's car so if you fucked around with it, you got your ass beat. No little race car just handed of with money for parts or places to steal parts from.

Anyway, my wife brings out books with accident victims when our daughter rides her bike in the road after we tell her not too. Books that show what happens when a kid gets hit by a car. She stopped riding in the road. :D

people only kill others or get in accidents when they are either being stupid or dont pay attention. speeding on a highway is different than "racing"

I'm gonna have to guess that these aren't 1st time offenders or just average Joes that got stopped for going 60 in a 55 zone.

So then an accident caused by brakes failing, tire blowing out, animal running into the road, hydroplaning, etc are all caused by stupid or inattentive people? Give me a break. If you're really only 15 you've hardly had any driving experience yourself.

    BULLSHIT

    plain and simple

I've seen people die in 30-45mph "accidents"

I also dont believe theres such thing as an "accident" on the road...its a collision...if you hit something with your vehicle...or another vehicle hits you...its because the driver behind the wheel was either being stupid or ill prepared for what happened...

A collision with a deer maybe can be considered an accident...BUT you should be prepared for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to happen when you are behind the wheel

I'm sure it's dettered a few people though, and it's certainly stopped the executed person doing it again. That's the idea behind crushing the racers' cars.

I think it's a good thing. That ricer looked like a complete POS anyway.

Although crushing the cars is primarily focused at deterring street racing there could be a better solution...... how bout they take the cars and part them out..... maybe that would help pay for some of the cost of flying air force one over new york to get that perfect picture.

BTW i think crushing them is great

local police departments should also use them as narc cars

    help bust other people

We bust a guy using his 7series beemer to run dope up I-20...guess what...my dept now has a 7 series beemer

not a whole lot of difference...we certainly dont pay back the drug dealer for taking his runner car...

I don't completely understand it. So if I was caught speeding 60 in a 55, my vehicle would get crushed? or is it only if your street racing?

ok, well ur pretty much asking to get ur car crushed if your street racing. Leaving school one day, two dumb a's were racing, a ricey blue civic si and a 'stang gt, and as they were approaching a rather busy area where lots of cars are entering and exiting the highway the mustang was passing cars in median at around 80+ mph almost hit a car. I came so close to caling the cops on 'em because of that. But seriously keep it on the drag strip

I have no problems calling the cops on dumbasses like that. If they don't get their balls busted, they might end up killing you, your family, or your loved ones one day.

I dig it- There are legal ways to do exactly what they are doing, but due to any number of reasons they choose to do it illegally.

And they are dumb enuf to get caught...I would love to see the money put to better use...but the chances that the gov't could administer a program to sell high performance car parts to appropriate people/venues and not have inordinate liability is slim to none.

It's not cheap to build one of those cars- and getting busted for street racing affects insurance rates/insurability...making every bust a driver takes very expensive. It's a step in the right direction...

regardless of the dangers o street racing, these tactics are, quite simply

idiotic, wasteful and done for attention not from racers, but from voters.

there is a lot of revenue to come from liquidating those cars, all you'll get from smashing them is scrap and a landfill full of shit.

i dont race, but i would take it to the supreme court if i saw senseless destruction of property being used to spite spoiled kids.

    good luck with that

its not senseless...street racing is reckless and dangerous to anyone who happens to be nearby...regardless of if they wanted to be or not

A felon convicted of a crime with a gun gets his gun taken away and then its incinerated...

a vehicle is a street racers weapon...

and i would bet that california would spend more hiring someone to disassemble and sell those vehicle parts than they would make...

A VEHICLE IS A STREET RACERS WEAPON?!
    thats right,
    i remember now,
a kid in his WRX chasing down pedestrians screaming

"I QUITE ENJOY MURDER! THIS IS MY INTENT!"

    NO.

street racers get people killed out of stupidity, that car in someone elses hands is valuable income for state authorities.

it costs nothing to auction off those cars, or SIMPLY parts them out.

but it will cost plenty to clean up and store the cubed piles they leave behind.

When you engage in street racing i assume youre screaming that very thing...

Now then...lets say the state turns around and sells this car...oops...now someone else has the car and goes out and street races and kills someone...now what?
