While in my haste to order a bunch of parts for different mods, I didn't think it through and figure out combining mods together. Primarily, I was looking at doing the back up mod, Nav mod, and phone mirroring. Now that all my parts are in, I realized I doubled up.

With the crux harness, I don't have to cut any oem wires since the crux gave me a new wire harness between the oem harness and the radio.

    Backup cam:
I should be able to cut the wire on pin 2 on the 28 pin and splice in the back up cam diode.

I also need illumination power, illumination ground, and switched 12v for the switch and this should be on the 10 pin.

I'm not sure which illumination power I should connect to. Illumination ground should go to pin 7 on the 10 pin, and the switched 12v should be pin 3.

Item Wire Color Polarity Wire Location
Radio 12V white + radio, white 10 pin plug, pin 4
Radio Ground white/black - radio, white 10 pin plug, pin 7
Radio Ignition gray + radio, white 10 pin plug, pin 3
Radio Illumination green (parking lights); beige (dimmer) +,- radio, white 10 pin plug, pin 10; blue 6 pin plug, pin 5

Nav mod is already built in to the crux so no longer needed.

This also leads me to have one more issue I would like cleaned up. The crux digital to analog converter needs USB power and so does my roku. Would there be an easy way to tap off the cig plug and reroute to the glove box?

Oh, prize for the first person to figure this out for me gets a 28 pin harness that I apparently no longer need.

Goal is the tangled mess. Prize is the clean white harness.

OK, ordered a add a circuit and 12v to 5v double USB adapter. I think at this point, I just need to get some extra wiring and I should be set. I can play around with the illumination to see which one will be the correct one.

Vehicle in motion trigger (Nav mod) with steering wheel works.

Roku connected with my Samsung S7 Edge.

Realized my rear view cam switch doesn't fit the blank spot or my new switch panel so that part of the project is now on hold.

I did lose my USB connection and am hoping someone could get me a drawing that will allow me to switch between the stock USB connection or the crux av input so I can switch between the two.

That's kinda funny. Finally identified a difference between them. My USB doesn't work but my aux does.

Wow ive been going back and forth too about what the difference was. I went with the beat sonic because it came with a HDMI converter. I also been trying to figure out how to get my AUX back. Looking at the wire it looked like they replaced it with the audio for the RCA's

The crux was about $110 at Walmart so I went with it.

If you plan to tap off the cig plug, be prepared to remove a lot of panels to get to it. It is a pain in the ass the remove off that panel if you were to try and pop it out with the panel above removed. Easiest way to tap i think would be to pop out another switch and just use a test light to find the correct wire and run an inline fused wire to whatever you needed

You can use the test light to find power when the ignition is on, and with a small nail in the ground clip poke it into the other pin holes once you found it to find the ground, it will light when you do

Well, I've been looking at switches and am not sure if what I want is actually doable.

I was looking for a switch where in one position, it would connect one set of wires and in different position, it would connect a different set of wires. I was looking at spst, spdt, dpdt and I don't think these will help me accomplish what I am trying to do. Suggestions?

Kenny, my original plan was to use a add a circuit, but i just saw the foot panel fuse box and would like to keep the cover on the (feet get covered in mud and wetness and don't want it to splash) . It looks like I am going to tap into the cig lighter now. I'll probably be taking the entire dash apart to get this how I want... Or find someone to pay to do this.

It's not hard.. start with just loosening the glovebox and the panel under the steering wheel, then work your way down removing panels from the head unit (which you can leave in) and to the shifter panel. It helps to loosen the back half of the center console too, just for extra work room. I removed the cig lighter altogether and used those wires, it's just a + and - on with ignition..

I can't claim the 28 pin harness as a prize, because my crappy advice would probably have your truck up in flames. However, I do want one. PM me?

Besides the hdmi converter what is the difference between the crux and beatsonic? I ordered the beat sonic but have not installed as i am having headunit issues. So i may be able to swap em out if the difference is negligible.

The Crux came with a hdmi converter, plugs into the 28 and 10 pin. The wiring harness itself is actually RCA and the hdmi converter plugs into in with RCA. Seems to be about half the price of the beatsonic and functionally I don't know if there is a difference.

Does beatsonic include the vehicle in motion trick

I have a crux for the nav override. When I use the override though I get "brake" flashing on my gauge cluster (understandable) but also an annoying audible alarm. I have attempted to contact Crux about this, and have emailed them twice with no response at all. It isn't a big deal for what I use it for, but seems it isn't the way it should work, they market it as being able to watch video with it.
Does yours beep when in motion and using it?

No issues when I use mine. Did you switch the tiny plug from switch to steering wheel? It looks like a small 3 pin.

    Thanks,
I'll have to pull the head unit and check, but I double checked everything that day and it all seemed correct. I just wasn't 100% sure mine wasn't working properly, I guess I know it isn't. I should have just returned it and tried another since Crux apparently doesn't have customer service. I guess in the end if I can't get the alarm to go away it isn't a big deal, the Nav override still works and since I wouldn't ride for too long without it it isn't a big deal, and the cameras would work without the alarm I believe.
