Ok. So I got a Binance account (using my 2nd Gmail account), and I just sent some BTC to it from Coinbase so I can grab some IOTA. Do I need to do the ID verification (which I will when I get home tonight) before it'll deposit into my Binance account? How long does it usually take for this process? And yes, I realize this shit is currently blowing up and everything is slow right now. Minutes? Days? Weeks?

Another fun Bitcoin story I just heard from my boss. He did some work for some tech guys about 12 years ago and was offered 90,000 bitcoins as payment, but at the time it was worth basically nothing so he passed. He's kicking himself now though.

@Haslefre Yes, start by buying whichever of the 3 you want on Coinbase. Personal opinion go ETH. Once you get it then you withdraw from your coinbase and transfer it to your Binance account (IMPORTANT: you can only transfer a certain coin to its own wallet type, don't try to send ETH to a BTC wallet etc. ETH to ETH, BTC to BTC, etc).

@BamaToy1997 When you use money from your bank account then it can take 3 to 7 business days to get to your account (it states this when you do it). If you use a credit card then it's instant.

@99TacoDriver Im not telling you anything specific with taxes, consult your tax professional, ;)
However! You cannot have more than $10,000 at any one time deposited or a cumulation of more than $10k of deposits within a 7 day period before a flag gets tripped at your bank. Then they report it. So a couple low number electronic deposits spread out and noone the wiser. The government already takes enough of my money, they don't need everything, freaking crooks.

You don't need to do the ID verification unless you plan on withdrawing more than 2 BTC out of Binance in a 24hr period. I wouldn't mess with it.

Ah. Just saw that. Yeah, doubt I'll be doing that. Not anytime soon.

Any idea how long it takes to get from Coinbase to Binance? I just did a small amount to familiarize myself, and made sure it was BTC wallet to BTC wallet.

When you send to a new address it takes a minumum of 2 confirmations on the blockchain for it to complete. BTC might take an hour, ETH 30 minutes tops. And good call just doing a small amount first.

Brush up on your exchange terminology. If you are using Coinbase you can only buy/sell at market prices. If you are on GDAX (which if you have a coinbase account then you have a GDAX account, forgot to mention that earlier) then you can set Limits on your buy and sell numbers to make sure you are the Maker. If you just use the Limit buy/sell option you can select the option to where you are always the MAKER which makes your buys and sells with ZERO fees. IF you can login to Coinbase then you can login to GDAX

LTC may have small dips but IMO it's headed on a slow recovery to BTC territory, it has so much more room to grow.

Gotcha. Still learning. So much info, just trying to keep it all straight. I'm amazed and terrified by it at the same time.

Thank you for all your help and sharing your knowledge. Can't speak for everyone, but it's made me a little more comfortable with it.

    Ok so with GDAX...

I could technically move like .01 BTC to GDAX and then use that to purchase LTC correct?

Just for a data point, it took me 3 hours to transfer $100 from coinbase to binance last night.
