ABC correction should have hopefully finished up last night/this morning. Retested previous ath for total market cap and also for the total alt coin market cap. My guess is we may see some ranging for a while before some big moves up.

I haven’t really kept up with them but just looking at the charts real quick, they have both made some huge parabolic moves to the upside. They could potentially continue higher but I wouldn’t bet my money on them. The risk:reward ratio is not favorable IMO on something that has already moved that much.

CSPR has some big potential. It broke a big resistance yesterday and retested it as support in the pullback last night.

No inputs? I see that I'd have to earn 1,500,000 Shib before they'd cash out to me, my math says I'd have to run the computer 24/7 for the better part of a year and unless it goes parabolic again I believe that would be a loss. I guess I'm really looking for a mining arrangement that would deposit to my wallet more often.

    edit:
reading is leading me to believe there's no way to make money mining with personal computers, need thousand dollar rigs and months of use just to get money back so this looks like a long term investment

Depends on what you have and the deals you can get on equipment you don't have.

I'm doing xmrig on my mining rig (3800x) full time and most of the time on my gaming rig (5800x).

Getting an open frame this week to mount everything in it except for the 3070ti in my gaming rig. Will also be mining on it when not playing.

Mining rig will have a 1060 6gb, 6600, 6600xt, 3060ti, and a non-lhr 3070. Adding more new cards as I get them near MSRP. Usually best buy online drops or Newegg shuffles.

That’s a lot of money in GPUs.
I’m trying to wrap my head around the software setup needed and it seems the “best” crypto to mine changes over the months. My impression is the ASIC machines are better than GPUs for the money however each one is only build to work for specific coins? If true, going that route wouldn’t work well for the fluid game if only purchasing one (if I can even afford one). I’ve still got a bit of reading to do and would appreciate any direction anyone can give.

    edit:
‘software setup needed’ meaning pool with least/zero fee that will have frequent payouts

The best pool and miner has a lot to it. Pools have different setups depending on the coin being mined, the miners can do different hashrates and fees depending on the coin, some miners don't work on both brands of cards, etc.

Asics can be "better" in getting hashrates quickly, but are very expensive and a lot of power to run. Like you said, they're only good for one type of script to mine and can easily cost you money to run depending on the value of the coin, elec costs, and the overall difficulty and overall hashrates.

    Depends on what you're mining.

The tl;dr for most is 'does hard math looking for a solution and uses a lot of power in the process' for proof of work coins. Proof of stake 'mining' is providing network services. Helium is 'proof of coverage' verifying lorawan hotspots and providing data connectivity for such. There's also some 'proof of storage' ones, etc.

I don’t know a ton about mining but it seems to me that mining now is not the best time with the top of btc on the horizon. With the big up front costs of it, Mining throughout the bear market seems like it would be more profitable by earning And holding. Right now more can be made by investing your mining start up money into alts. Then cash out when they take off and use some of the profits to set up a mining rig or two and mine away through the accumulation period of the next bear market. Then cash out when they take off again in however many years down the line.

idk, just throwing out an idea.
