Coinbase also has those “courses” you can do on their app to learn about various crypto’s and earn $3-5 worth for free. I think I got around $30 worth that’s now worth $90. All for free.

you used to be able to refer people as well and get more like $35-45 worth but I think they stopped that around the start of the year.

Serious question here... How many of you are claiming your crypto-crypto trades?

Any trade is considered a taxable event. Even crypto to crypto. I imagine with crypto getting this mainstream, irs will be watching much closer and may even roll out new crypto tax regulations.

I came across this yesterday on YT for those of you needing to claim crypto trades on your taxes. I thought it was pretty helpful.

Exactly why I ask. I know there are apps that track everything for you and spit out a tax record. Unfortunately, people like me who don't do a lot... It's annoying. Thankfully I've HODL'd my LTC for a long time.

I honestly hope they do to make it
    More clear how it’s taxed.

I can say that I will be reporting everything as honestly as possible. I mostly accumulated last year and didn’t have too many trades. This year is already a totally different story. I really think IRS is going to be really cracking down this year on this especially for people who are going to profit in the 6-7 figures and up.

I'm only up slightly this year. I'm down overall from when I bought my LTC in 17/18. I guess as long as I don't put more money into it, I should be OK

From what I understand, if you sold a crypto into fiat or traded into another crypto, then that is a taxable event.

Don't take what I say as financial advice. I'm not a financial advisor or specialist...I'm just a dude that likes researching and investing in crypto. Always DYOR.

I’m going to start selling my ETH once it hits 2k and roll the profits into other alts that are lagging. I accumulated from $200-600 and compared to other alts, it has less potential percentage gains left in it.

Every crypto trade is essentially crypto to US dollars back to crypto. On the conversion to US dollars you have a realized capital gain. You then take that money and buy new crypto. imagine 100 crypto coins as 100 shares of a stock you sell that stock, get money and use that money to buy a different crypto (stock) that is a taxable sale if you have realized gains
