Was gonna cover this in the new thread too :)

Hardware wallet >/= Paper Wallet > Desktop Wallet > Mobile Wallet > Online Wallet

That's how I feel about them. Hardware wallets are nice because they are offline, secure, and redeemable (if you remember your word code). These cost money and are overkill (imo) if you haven't invested that much. It's a nuisance to transfer from Hardware wallet -> online wallet everytime you want to make a transaction.

I personally use a Desktop wallet. Many options for these. Exodus or Jaxx are most popular.

Rule of thumb is to never keep your wallet where it can be breached. For example, online wallet's can be hacked (i.e. MtGox). Desktop Wallet's installed on a malicious computer can be stolen. Same with mobile. Paper wallets, your house can burn down and lose all of it with no backup. etc etc.

    Edit - Recent hacking :/

    What will I sell next?
Ahhh. Mainly do my stuff at work, so don't want a desktop wallet and don't want to keep my BTC at home when I may need them at work or something.

So would mobile wallet be ok for small amounts?

I've never used a mobile wallet, but it's same principal as Desktop Wallet. I believe it's redeemable as well. For example, when you setup a desktop/mobile wallet it creates a 12 word password that can be used to gain access to your funds if your computer/phone happens to die.

I personally don't like the idea of having all my funds on my phone, I misplace that shit all the time!

Recent Apple tech is being investigated for stealing BTC from a customer's phone during repair LOL.

Yeah. But it's MC and not Visa... maybe that's what it is. Tried my Visa first and it wouldn't accept it, so I went with my MC.

    I'm TRYING!!!

IOTA is easier to invest in and see a higher return. it is low right now ($3.80) but can easily reach $10 by early 2018

It's unique in the cryptocurrency world, using Tangle technology. The Microsoft partnership really skyrocketed the popularity/price of IOTA. With a company like Microsoft backing you, it's hard not to see the potential value.

@WhiskeyTaco & @DustStorm4x4 ~ I already said I'd up date the first couple of post to try and consolidate info... See above /\/\/\

As you can see the thread blew up. So I'll have to take the time to do that, if you (others too) want to help by suggesting how you think it would be the most helpful, I'm open to doing that like I mentioned before. Trying to help people, that's why I started to thread, not only for myself to try and learn, but others as well. Honestly I haven't been able to fully focus on this all the way I'd like, I've had a lot of other things going on recently. So I'm still lagging, but that doesn't mean I don't wanna help or be helped..

Let's hear the suggestions and make the thread better.

First thing that needs to be in the OP is how to go about purchasing other crypto currencies

    1. Coinbase -> set up account and purchase BTC, ETH or LTC (Use a credit card for instant purchases, withdraws from bank accts take ~ 5-8 days)

    2. Binance (or other exchange) -> set up account to receive BTC, ETH or LTC from coinbase and exchange to other crypto currencies such as IOTA, SALT, ETC etc.
    • To do so you would need to go to funds>deposits/withdrawls>click deposit for the currency you receive from coinbase (1 of the 3 and make sure it matches.
    • This will generate an address, copy that address to coinbase
    • In coinbase go to accounts, click send on the currency you want to send and paste the address from Binance into the address to send to.
    • Receiving the currency on binance may take a little while (5-8 hours)
    3. Now that you have BTC, ETH or LTC in Binance you can exchange on there to other currencies
