Just curious as to what baseline you're using to make the inference that it's currently over-valued. I'm genuinely curious- I'm not trying to be a dick.

P.S. Starbucks in the USA accepts BTC as payment and Amazon is on the way. We are still so early in the game- still in the early adopter stage- so it's not mainstream.

As I said before, it's so new the girl at Starbucks yesterday didn't even know what BTC was OR that they accepted it as payment. THAT is how new to this whole thing we still are.

At the end of the day, it's a numbers game for me. Am I willing to risk $10,000 on the chance that I could make- who knows how much- on the chance that I could lose that $10,000? Uhhhhh. HELL YEAH. Because- if I do in fact lose it all- I lost $10K. Big Deal...

Any of you guys trade with Kraken?

Been getting into crypto over the last month or so, mostly just learning and researching about how they work. I have an idea of what I want to buy so getting ready to pull the trigger, just waiting on Kraken to finish their verification.

I have played my fair share of penny stocks. I luckily sold one at one point and it made my money back, but I still have two that I have about 10k shares and another that has 300k shares that I will never see come to life again...

Yea, the fact that it is still soooo new is what could either be a good thing or a bad thing, but when I am at the gym and the CNBC, MSNBC and all the others that talk about the stock market are constantly talking about it... it is saying something.

    If only...

Which way are you going to be using it? Coinbase or one of the others?

If you're not trading in/out of alt coins like I do, it's not a bad option. Honestly, I was surprised when I logged into my Bittrex account and saw I had a few hundred more $$$ than I did the day before. I started looking and figured out that I got BitCoin Gold from the fork [something else to research].

If you just held and forgot about it, at some point you'll look and see that not only will your BTC moved with current market value, but that you'll have things like BitCoin Gold, BitCoin Cash, etc. as BitCoin "forks."

Also, I agree that the mainstream financial world doesn't trust it at this point, but I'm sure no one trusted PayPal in the 90's when the internet and digital payments were just beginning. 20 years later and it's the standard.

The kicker is the technology, how it works, the security and speed behind it. Current digital transfers take a few days, crypto takes seconds. All it takes is for the mainstream financial industry to adopt the technology. The gold standard was thrown out decades ago, the US dollar is the real scam.

I heard bad things originally, but I've heard its much better now. Anyone with personal experience? Unfortunately I live in Hawaii so certain exchanges like Coinbase won't allow me to even register.

Will have to research more of these "forks"

Bubble Burst, but I still see it going back up with it becoming a more globally accepted currency.

But I am in it for the long haul now. Will just have to see what happens honestly. I am not life savings into, but "fun" savings which to me is just the stuff I can blow on stupid things like truck parts anways.

To be honest with you, they all say it's in bubble and it's going to crash, and they think we're idiots. That's sort of the general consensus I get from them. I think they generally don't fully understand it, and anything outside of "legacy" (i.e. our current stock market, options trading, etc.) is bad. It's a resistance to change type of thing. It's a "well, this is the way we've always done it" so "anything new must be bad" sort of train of thought.

Thinking about it, you know what WOULD get mainstream media attention?!? If Bill and Hillary came out and said they were converting X% of their "Clinton Cash" into BitCoin... THAT would REALLY fuel the fire!

    Exactly.

I also see it as it is not a crash when it has risen so much... a 10% drop when it has gone up 70% to me is not a crash at all...

    Also yea...

Or hell, if Bill Gates said he was putting his money into BTC and donating 1 BTC to 100 different charities or something.

But I think once Amazon says we now accept BTC as a form a payment, people are going to be like.... what?????

Dude. Bill Gates ALREADY came out and said in an interview "BitCoin isn't going anywhere. It's here to stay."

CoinMarketCap.com has BTC at $9,669.79. A change of 4%... A 4% downturn after multiple, double digit "up" days isn't crazy.

Think about this- if you've seen the move "The Big Short..." Think about just how long it took for Goldman to actually "value" the short position. Christian Bale looks at the Goldman banker and said "The ONLY reason you have my position valued where it is, because YOU haven't gotten in yet." Goldman Banker says "I really don't know what you want me to say." I realize it's Hollywood, but think about that...

"Downturns" like these are an excuse for "Big Money" to get in.
