Crystal Lakes-Georgia Pass-Red Cone-Webster Pass, CO

Met up with Wishbone, SqueekyPenguin and Justin for the tail end of their camping/wheeling adventure in the high country this weekend...

met up at crystal lakes, then in the morning went over georgia pass then down to red cone and back on webster pass...

the army wouldnt authorize me to drive out. have a rental car between 2 people.

 

Not that I'm aware of.

Most everything here is about getting muddy. I just want to ride some trails and take in the scenery.

I have visited CO btw. My ex is from there. Saw 7 Falls, Royal Gorge Bridge, and cant remember the name of the town but went gambling in an old mining town and took a scenic ride to get there on a one lane trail that wound through some mountain region. Beautiful out there.

 

my wife just came out to visit and we went to 7 falls yesterday. the gambling town u went to was probably cripple creek.

i am from south west georgia and there aint shit down there to go wheelling other than some farm land dirt roads or mud holes

 

Yes, that was it. Didn't win sh#t. But was cool seeing everything.

 

I am doing this run when I pass through Colorado. I have been looking at this trail on T4R also and the views are killer. I just hope I can make it in time before the snow hits it to hard and I can't do it.

great pics bob, mad i had to back out of the red cone section. ended up getting rid of a couple russian olive tree's in my back yard and getting ready for the wife family to get into town.

 

Here are my contributions.

Friday afternoon met up with Justin (HOJeepster on T120) and headed up to Montezuma, pissing down rain on 70 on the drive up, but it cleared out nicely by the time we got to Montezuma and headed up the trail. We ran St. Johns up from Montezuma, and then dropped down Middle Swan River.

Manged to get down to treeline, setup camp cook dinner and had just gotten the fire rolling when a heavy storm rolled through and put out the fire and forced everyone to bed earlier than we had hoped for. Camp in the morning after torrential rain overnight.
