    Yep...narrowed it down to the fan or radiator. When we check/test the fan, it seems to be working fine, though.

    Since we are on the subject of cooling and crappy fan clutches has any one ever looked into modifying the factory fan clutch? I know wits'end modifies 80 series clutches by using heavier oil along with a larger volume. Sure it will rob the engine of a few ponies but I would rather have a cool motor with consistent power than a detonating time bomb...

    Awesome CB setup, TRD leaf springs, matching camper shell...more to come some day.
    So...maybe its just me...but I have a 06 2.7l manual...Even in Oklahoma during the summer with temps well in excess of 100 degrees (I've had over 60 days straight of 110+ temps) and I have had no issue even with a full bed of firewood in the summer time. Is the 2.7l manual trans somehow that much easier to cool or am I just lucky?

    I can’t answer that, but I’m my case it’s an automatic and there’s a big supercharger cooler in front of the radiator. So a bigger all aluminum radiator should help.

    Besides the illusion of everyone's truck being equal, there are many differences behind the screens, of each owner's truck.

    4.0L > 2.7L. Same radiator, but larger engine.

    OEM grill. Aftermarket grill.

    Auto trans or manual.

    Grill obstructions of any kind.

    Dirt saturation of cooling fins.

    Lack of ducting that the 4Runner has.

    No diverter panel.

    Etc., etc....

    We had 10 degree temps in North Texas this winter while I had the CSF radiator and 160 thermostat. 168.8°F is what my low temp was.

    You also have no hot trans fluid going through the radiator heating up your coolant even more.

    Same temps I had with stock AND 170 thermostat. Me likely 160 much better.
