Didn't notice this until I was already half way to class... (too late to turn around.)
Needless to say, I've already got on ebay and purchased an older model cup holder insert for $35!

There's a mod for this: To prevent it from happening; Take a piece of velcro and glue it to the bottom of the cup holder, then glue the other piece of velcro to the bottom of your console that the cup holder goes in. You'll still be able to take the holder out for cleaning, but it will not come out as easily with bottles like it currently does.

I like that the rubber holders hold a bottle in there solidly. Maybe go with one rubber and one plastic?

Someone, in another thread, said to rotate the cup/bottle while taking it out of the holder. That's worked for me and my Hydroflask ever since.

Very true. Try holding bottle in one hand, remove cup holder with other hand. With practice, it can be done in 2 seconds. I can find other uses for $35. To each their own.

That water bottle it gripped in there pretty solid. I don't think the opposing force of the velcro would hold it. However I'm sure I'd here the noise and know that it's still attached. But my insulated water bottle doesn't even fit so the mod should be a definite upgrade.

You can also drill/cut a small hole in the side of the cupholder about 1/4" from the bottom so you don't get suction when you put large items like that in there.

Use cup holders in the door for larger bottles and cups... Problem solved.

OP, Those older clips break all the time. You're much better served taking any of the above advice and making a slight modification to get it to work. Drilling a small hole in the bottom of my cup holder worked wonders in eliminating suction.

I take one of the rubber cup holders out when using a cup of that size. Works perfect.

I threw away the broken and useless plastic divider from my '08 years ago.
I think I'd like the rubber ones. Can I have yours? :p

^smooth. Haha. I'm gonna try the advice from these other guys when my plastic part breaks as everyone says it will.

I keep an umbrella in the side door. I may just relocate it and see if my insulated water bottle fits in there. Thanks fellas.

Only problem is that it's too big and had the bottle tip over on a sharp turn and roll between my feet. Could've turned out real bad...
