Okay, been driving my Tacoma for a year and a half, but I started looking at them over 5 years ago. It occurred to me the other day that the only V6 Tacomas I see are either Prerunners or 4X4s, which begs the question, do (did) they ever make a 5 lug V6 other than the XRunner? And while I'm asking questions, did they ever make a regular cab PreRunner? I'm sure the answers are out here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look, and I figured this would give people something to discuss that had nothing to do with whether the 3rd gen is a POS or a whole new truck.

In 2010 and before, you could get a pre runner regular cab. You could also get an SR5 regular cab.

But never a V6 regular cab in the 2nd gen.

The only V6 5 lug 2nd gen tacomas are the X-runners.

Google shows hits for regular cab prerunners too.

Thanks for the response. I was pretty sure there was no V6 regular cab, I just had never thought about the access cab or the double cab in 5 lug form. Which brings up another question...Why hasn't someone built a V6 regular cab?

because at that point... may as well do an LS swap, it would be easier and you would make way more power.

I understand the power advantage of an LS ENGINE, I'm just surprised someone hasn't taken a rolled, but complete Tacoma V6 and mated it with a bare bones regular cab. Seems like you'd have a pretty good RC 4X4 or RC XRunner.

I'm a little surprised by that too. With the earliest second gens now ten years old, I expect someone will be willing to build a Frankenstein's regular cab like that eventually.
