My frame is fine, but I'm just curious about the new frames put on tacomas with frames that were rusted out.

I've heard and seen 2nd gens that did rust and rot as bad as the 1st gens and got their frames replaced too

Do the new frames have the same problem than the original ones? Prone to excessive rust
Or this issue has been corrected?

I recently saw a 2003 double cab that had the frame replaced in 2012-2013 and it already looks as rusty as my 96. I've also seen one that was replaced about the same time and it still looked brand new. So, I am not sure about the swap but I will say from personal experience that the "coating / prevention" they put on the trucks they wouldn't frame swap was total rubbish and may have done more harm than good.

After finding out about Toyota's very long history of frame rot ( 1995-201?), I would not trust any Tacoma frame and my advice to any new or old owner would be to apply a product like Fluid Film from day 1.

yes, of course. Toyota's coating/prevention is rubbish, so it is why the frames rust so fast. I also heard it is because they are made out of bad quality steel, but I am wondering if it is still the case since dana corp, toyota truck's frames manufacturer, was sued by toyota over the rotten frames issue back in 2011

Ive seen a couple pics of the new frames getting very rusty too so if they are better steel its not by much!
With that said if ya throw a shit ton of salt on steel it wont stay pristine regardless!

Guys with new frames!! You've got to do preventative maintenance!!!!! You'll be in the same boat as you were in no time flat if nothing is done to stop the terrible cancerous effects of that salt that your lovely state is destroying your new rigs with....and making the used vehicle market shitty!

got my new frame a couple months ago and applied fluid film about a month ago before the cold creeped in. 60 bucks in fluid film isnt much to hopefully keep my new frame from rotting out again.
