Hello all, so I used to have a clean 03 taco that was my first truck. As I'm guessing you know the hell that thing went through, now I kept up on the maintenance for the most part. No I sold it to a buddy 3 years ago and now I'm buying it back and will have to do a 800 mile rode trip to get it back home. I plan on putting new wheel bearings in the front and it is also in need of a new power steering rack. Dose anyone have any thoughts on if I sould do any more stuff to it to make sure it's good for a long trip back home? Any suggestions I'd appreciate!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The wheel bearings and the steering rack are to the point of complete failure ?

Just what are we working on 3.4 or 2,7 4x4 ?

Time for timing Belt? Lower Ball Joints been changed.

Has the truck just been run into the ground the last 3 years no maintenance what so ever?

Your going to be up close and in person your going see what needs done.

Only 800 miles Check the fluids air in the tires and go. Just remember heat soaked vehicles can do strange things

It all depends on how it’s been maintained. I drove mine home 5000 miles starting the afternoon I bought it and it was fine, but easily could have left me stranded had the PO not been diligent.

Does he have service records for it?

Check all fluid levels. Check tire tread and pressure. Say a prayer and send it.

Whew, by the title I thought you were gonna say “I’m about to get married.”

Sorry forgot to put that, it's a 3.4 4x4 the timing belt was replaced probably about 50k miles ago give or take. I know my buddy toke care of the engine but everything else he left. The rack and bearings are not to complete failure but the rack just pisses fluid out and im pretty sure the bearings are just noisy.
