That sandwich looks delicious. Care to share what exact ingredients you used? What kind of bread is that?

Do we have more information on this specific sandwich?

I have one similar to yours in my T100. I ran it for 3-4 months. The sound it produces is nice. I noticed acceleration improved significantly in the mornings and evenings... colder air. However, during the day when it was hot there was no noticeable change in acceleration.

So after reading about deck plate and elbow removal mods, I went ahead and removed the 3” 90 degree plastic elbow that’s held on by two bolts. Immediately after doing this is when I felt the difference. It was a hot summer day when I removed it, not too long ago.

Now I have forced outside air coming in straight through that hole, no more restriction. I think this is as good as it gets for me, the K&N with the elbow removed.

For the sake of being crafty, had I known about the deck plate mod prior to the K&N purchase. I probably would have done that instead of spending all that money.

For the deck plate mod, personally I would have cut the biggest hole possible or cut in two holes side by side. Then cut off the elbow like the other guy did, keeping the air box flange intact to the inside of the fender.

After hours of putting my head into this, I found the main thing hindering forced outside air was that elbow. It’s connected to a hidden snorkel behind it in the fender, which I left in there abandoned.

For the guys that say cold air intakes don’t work, I feel like it’s copycat language. I agree that most cold air intakes aren’t properly engineered and don’t have the simplest modifications to the vehicle to perform at it’s best. Example, that badly designed metal tube K&N or the ones without a heat shield.

Bottomline for me, constantly bringing in forced outside air for a fact increased my acceleration and mpg.

I like that preheated Air Intake.

Made me recall the old days Running a cool can to chill the gas before going into the carb in the C Super Modified Camaro

Also a snorkel is the 'coldest' air intake you're gonna find, unless you route your intake into the cab to draw air from your AC vent

You could in theory run the air intake through a box with liquid Nitrogen now your not going to get much colder air then that

Are the cheap factory replacement intake housings good enough? My factory housing is in rough shape, and a new from from Toyota looks to be around $400. I have a OEM style housing in my Amazon cart for $90. I have had no luck in finding first gen tacos in junk yards around here, and when they do show up they are stripped in a matter of days.

I was going to get a CAI setup due to my busted factory filter housing, but it sounds like its better to just keep it stock.

Just inspect it careful I bought one that had a poor glue job the piece where the MAF gets installed was broken off when it arrived.

They did make good sent me another one I did not need to return the damaged one nothing some good epoxy could not fix.

It seems the spring clips that hold it closed fail first.

Just how bad is yours ?? Fiberglass can work wonders.

Same here. No issues to report. I've removed and cleaned my K&N filter around 3-4 times in the two+ years it's been installed. Cleaned my MAF about half that with the appropriate cleaner. Just routine maintenance, nothing was wrong. I'd buy it again.

What 90 are you referring to? I have an 03 Tacoma 3.4l and I'm interested in getting what I can from stock parts. Thanks for any help.
