I have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 4 door it has 4000km on it. I have started to notice that the Current Fuel Economy display is malfunctioning. See photo. Anyone have experience with this before? The vehicle is idling as You can see by the tachometer. I did have my Tank average fuel economy also shoot up over 40L/100 in one instance but that has since moderated back as I mostly highway drive.
If You could offer some advice I would really appreciate it as this truck is new and still on warranty.
    Thanks for Your time.

Have you tried to reset the tank average information?

Hmmm...should be in gallons. Liters ARE weird.

I think you got a lemon...or are Canadian.

Only one thing to do. Take back to dealership and have them look at it.

Isn't this just that your truck is running rich on startup because it's 4* outside?

It's instantaneous estimated off of injector demand not actual fuel metered values? :notsure:

What is the malfunction in your picture? At idle the calculation for L/100km is infinity, so the indicator pegs at the maximum. If you idle for a long time on a fresh tank your average will be bad (your 40L/100km spike), so again I am not clear on the malfunction?

The complaint I have with the display is the scale is garbage. I would prefer better granularity in the normal range. Having the scale go to 60L/100km is mostly useless I find.

Mines the same. It’s instantaneous so if you aren’t moving, it will be maxed

Its not the calculation that I am worried about. I can understand that idling provides bad L/100km numbers. I actually don't idle the truck for more than 30sec and when I am in park the gauge shows zero, as if I had my foot off of the accelerator. Its when I put it in drive and roll yet still not depress the accelerator that I get the gauge to show high fuel consumption. The gauge shows high fuel consumption despite the fact that I am not depressing the accelerator. I can get the gauge to show this type of fuel consumption but i have to step aggressively on the gas. Most troubling I guess is that it is inconsistent. Sometimes its behaving what I would consider normally and at other times the high fuel consumption gauge catches my attention as I really value low fuel consumption. Unfortunately the dealer is far away and inconvenient so I was hoping someone else out there would have seen this problem before and could save me a trip.

This is normal and mine does it too. When I'm slowly creeping through a parking lot for example the instantaneous fuel econ is pegged at 60L/100kms. The scale is so bad as someone else mentioned I don't use this as one of my main displays anymore. I moved it to page 3.

This is normal? When you are stopped it theoretically takes infinity liters of gas to move 100km.

No fault found, but don't worry about it, question everything. Honestly I don't even know what the use of that stupid bar graph is, it is useless. By the way, my average for 2018 was 15.7 l/100 km so it is best not to think about fuel economy too much.

    Fresh gas.

Yup, wish the scale topped out at 20 or 30. I average 10.5 in my truck... reading up to 60 is very useless.

Maybe I am not understanding what you mean and if thats the case please help me, but are you expecting to bar to show fuel consumption or fuel economy?

Can you give me that in freedom eagles?? Lol I'm sorry I mean Miles, you know like imperial measurements cause our country likes us to be ignorant, and no I really can not convert it without using a device lol I have 22k miles (**freedom eagles**standard US measurement by the way) and my 2wd 2022 sr5 trd off road package is about to explode somewhere, I'm betting trans but the numbers on these readings and the rpm based clicking makes me think the flexplate bolts are not seated or aligned properly but by the time they agree it's not a vehicle characteristic they'll probably both have irreparable damage
