So my OEMs are on their last last leg- I might make a mig welder project out of them, but am looking at aftermarket.

What is the current spread? I know some companies support the first gen, then leave, and some just start up- for example I had my eyes set on RAT (came minutes away from buying an extended version on a great clearance price but someone snatched it), but now they only sell the template (in hindsight, hence the clearance price- damn).

Budbuilt and Skid Row both make great products.

I have been beating on my budbuilt skids for over 2 years

Years ago I thought that Budbuilt made decent skids. I didn't buy because I didn't really need them, but I would suggest that you consider Budbuilt. ;)

I don't want to do the RAT template, yet alone "build" one. Most I will diy is weld gussets on one, my mig doesn't have much power though.

I just put the skid row plate on last week replacing a rusted out stock piece. This might be the most overbuilt piece I’ve put on my truck. Quality all the way! You might want to tip your UPS guy though.

I'm looking to make my own sometime after the holidays, but am not sure how I'll mount the back end. I've seen @boxrocket's steering rack mount but I'm looking for any other mounting options - how do the skid row and budbuilt plates bolt up?
