Anyone know why the "What you paid for your Tacoma?" thread got locked? It was really useful.

It’s the worse time ever to buy a car woth a trade with most dealers telling you new cars are still over msrp plus adds but your trade is 20 percent less than last month because used market has changed. They are so full of it. Just saw a lime pro in New Mexico sell for 58k plus tax so they’d be happy to give you 44k and hope you take it. I had the same experience looking at a 2023 civic type r. The sister Toyota dealer of Honda offered me 42k for my lime pro with 750 miles and they have a 2023 pro with a 15k markup plus adds. So asking 70k. I was offered 53k by Chapman to buy it outright and threw it on CarGurus at 56.7k and had 5 buyers in a day at my ask. Buying a car right now is not for the inexperienced. The sharks are desperate and circling.

I paid MSRP at Precision Toyota in Tucson. Had a pretty painless experience. No BS, no Jerry Lundegaard trucoat, etc. LOL. None of it. My purchase was at the end of September.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I'd love some advise on pricing. I want out of my Lime PRO. Long story short. After never owning an automatic (I'm 46) I simply just don't like the transmission. I love the truck, love the color. I just miss 3 peddles. I got the truck for MSRP. It now has 13k. I only want to recover my money to replace the truck with a solar octane manual. But I effectively pay sales tax and registration twice in two years. Curious what others would charge if in my position.

Have you tried carvana and carmax ? I’d use that as a starting point then throw it on Facebook marketplace for what you “think” it’s worth. But good luck on trying to get out at sticker that seems like it’s done for

You have a unique vehicle. How many others in that color are there for sale that’s re pros. Someone will pay for it. Those that want the top of the line will step up. They always do. I only buy unique cars for that reason. Cars aren’t an investment but you can limit what you lose. S2000s, mr2 turbos, Audis s4 manuals, bmw z4 manuals, Shelby mustangs, Toyota pros etc. Does your state apply the value of the trade to the tax so you only pay the difference? Do buyers pay tax on private party sale? You don’t need to sell so list it see what happens. Car gurus was like $5. You can also go thru joinyaa.com and they will make you an offer.

I was at my dealer today for service and walked around the showroom to kill some time. Everything had a 10% market adjustment on it, some more. There was an iForce Sequoia on the floor that had an MSRP of $70k and they added a $20k market adjustment. There wasn't a Tundra to be had for under $60k by the time they added all their shit. The sad part was that there were a decent number of customers engaged with salespeople, so it seems like people are still willing to pay these outrageous prices.

Right people need research their own don’t believe all these so called expert hacks on YouTube. These are the same people that told everyone in may of 2020 that your cars would lose 50 percent of their value. So people panicked and sold 8 months later you could have bought your car back for twice as much. I watch this Ben hardy dude and every two hours he has a video contradicting his last one.

Try the Carmax, Carvana, Vroom is out of Texas they pay more for trucks. Givemethevin offered me $66,500 on my F-150 Tremor which was way more than anyone else. They’ll fly to your location and meet you at the bank and cut you a check on the spot. I’d check them out for sure. Finding a Solar Octane at MSRP may be difficult but I’m confident with enough dialing you can find one.

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
Statler Toyota is selling below MSRP. The sales rep Biff is a super nice guy.

Stopped by Autonation Ford in Scottsdale for one last chance at a 2023 Raptor at msrp. 15k markup on regular Raptors and 25k markup on 37 edition Raptors. I offered msrp and 2k over msrp, but my offer was declined. Camelback Ford was asking 20k markups on all Raptors a couple of months ago. Guess I'll keep looking. Went ahead and ordered my SS3 Pro ditch lights tonight because I'll probably be driving this truck a while longer.

I suspect deals are on the horizon. With mortgage rates where they're at and labor layoffs continuing economic growth is bound to slow or pop. Hopefully not, but time will tell.

It was probably a 2022, and it’s time for 2023
