Newbie here. So I currently have Wild Peak A/T Off-Road Tires - 285/75R16 122Q on my truck. Looking at the valve stem I see that it's metal w. the hex bolt = TPMS?

I bought these rims cuz they were cheap:

They don't have TPMS tho. Problem? Or just black tape mod it?

    Part 2.

DTD is having a pre-labor day sale and I'm looking to buy tires from them. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do?vid=008886&yr=2005

Any suggestions on tires? I'm looking for stock size [245/75]. Need as much mileage as I can get as well as looks. Don't need too much off road in my 4 banger.

Or another option: sell the rims I bought and mount 265/75 on the rims I currently have?

What other information do I need in order to make the switch from my 285's to 245's [preferably] or 265's?

Umm.... you have a Prerunner? Prerunner has 6-lug suspension, those rims are stock steelies from the '05+ 5-lug and won't fit the Prerunner.

You can buy TPMS stems for the new rims and have the computer programmed, or you can transfer your current stems onto the new rims.
The stock steel TPMS sensors will fit alloy rims by rotating them 180... the stock alloy TPMS should go right in.

How much did you pay for those rims? I'll be upgrading mine next year and I'm curious what I can get for them.

Ahh okay. So sell these wheels that I bought then?

What's the best way to get these 285's off and 245's on them while spending as little as possible?

I got them for around 75

I figured they were pretty cheap.
I've got chrome hubcaps with mine, and when I upgrade the rims, I'm just going to let the tire shop keep them. I'll sell the hubcaps since they don't seem to be common.

For the tires, just head to Discount/America's Tire and tell them you want a set of 245/75-16.
Cheapest (and most fuel efficient) is going to be a street tread, rather than an offroad tread... but they are still going to be $120+ for a good one.

That links to the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A for $123 each. It's a street tread designed for SUVs with a 60,000 mile warranty.
