It makes more money as an "entertainment" reality show than it ever would as a doc. Plus there isn't anything to document other than the millions spent looking for old dirt. I find the show has no credibility to still be on the air but I guess it entertains people so there you have it.

The first season was entertaining to a certain point however now it's not worth watching every episode. Like I said, History Channel should have never made this into a reality tv show and simply presented this as a documentary. And by that I mean after they either reach the money pit or give up trying to reach the money pit. History Channel was one of my favorite channels back when they actually had documentaries.

That can be said for a lot of channels. Everything is "reality tv" and 1% is actual good shows. Food Network, Discovery, MTV....you get the gist.

I have also watched every episode since season 1 and agree you would hear about it on the news or online before it aired but they are finding a lot of stuff that is not on the news and stuff I find very interesting. I look forward to seeing it every Tuesday night.

Having not watched it for a very long time, I just watched a couple hours of it. Now I know why it's called the "Money Pit". These guys are setting off 2025 seismic charges in addition to all the large scale excavations going on. Big bucks being spent there.

Yeah, good thing Marty has big bucks. https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/marty-lagina-net-worth.html/
In my opinion, the History channel is just along for the ride on Marty's train. He produces the show (along with other treasure hunting offshoots), so he dictates how, when and where they uncover items. You think it's just coincidence that something of "significance" shows up more often than in previous seasons?. Marty knows too many episodes without a find means lower ratings. I like the show except for one thing. That f-ing narrator needs to be shot, encased in concrete and buried somewhere on the island. :annoyed:

Agreed. The season finale was a week or so ago but I'm guessing it was shot last October based upon the autumn environmental conditions (weather, trees) shown in the season finale. They are probably starting to work and film again on the island for the new season. If they ever did find the big treasure, I think it would be really tough to keep it secret before it eventually was presented on the show on TV especially in this day and age.

Don't watch Curse of the Civil War Gold then...same guy....

There definitely is a clause in the contract that if something is found, it can’t be revealed until it’s aired on the show. Atleast from what I have read.

Not sure if you guys also watch the “drilling down” and “behind the dig” episodes? Seems the testing in the swamp indicated the presence of a an anomaly, that appear to be in the shape of a ship. Also the preview for the next season shows them pulling up some more timbers of what looks to be from a possible ship. So very intriguing, and lots of anticipation until next November when they air the next season.

Also don’t blame the narrator, he’s just reading from a script. While sometimes it can be a big over the top, you gotta give it to them for trying to keep and hype up the suspense. I mean after all, not only do we want to see what, if anything is down there, we sure as hell want them to find or pull something up and out!

This season looks thrilling. After years of just finding some random artifacts and lots of speculation, it appears they are on the trail to some much bigger things. I’m pretty excited to see how it all plays out. Looks like the myths and legends are panning out on this one. Even if it all leads to an empty treasure cove, would be impressive. Not just the efforts over the past centuries to try and explore what occurred there, but how it was all originally done and who was behind it all. And what item(s) of significant value is/were there.

I watched the new season episode last night and agree it looks like they find some really interesting things. Only show you a glimpse but looks like they do find some kind of tunnel.

I’m just hoping it’s an original depositors tunnel and not an old searcher tunnel. But either way it’ll be interesting to see.

I'll wait for a season recap before I watch any of that boring crap. I was hooked for a couple seasons but it's the same disappointment every season and a super annoying narrator.

American Racing Mojave Teflons wrapped with 265/70/16 Pathfinder AT. NST Lite Pulleys
60 min show, 10 min of content.

a recap would make a solid 60 min episode.

still gonna watch it, though :annoyed:

    First episode was interesting

Hey, there is a boat in the swamp - no those are rocks. Well, then it' s a boat pier. So let's not drain the swamp but drill it. Say wha?

Gary found another button but was way off on the date and details. Maybe he could just find the stuff without making up a story?

The cove dam needs to be redone to go further out away from the island. Wait, weren't they trying to find the drain fields which go into the island? Oh wait, the crane was in the way, but now we need it back to move the dam.

    What have you found out?

I watched the two hour season opener from a few days ago and all they found was a "bonnie dazzler" i.e. button on the beach, some sort of iron chisel, an "anomaly" in the swamp , and some hard area in the swamp they think was stone trail....

Is there something I'm missing? Did they preview upcoming shows in the season that I missed?

Yes there was a preview of the season ahead of it. Apparently they find a entrance to a tunnel. Pretty sure it’s in the swamp. I guess what we don’t know is if the tunnel is searcher or depositor. However I don’t think there is any recorded tunnels by any searchers in the swamp, so if it is indeed in the swamp the it should be a depositor tunnel.

either way I’d rather watch them dig then keep drilling test holes and a few caissons in spots.

For whatever reason the videos of them showing them finding the shaft have all been removed. In the new previews they haven’t showed it yet. Wonder if it was an accidental release. Newest clips I can find show them digging in the swamp and pulling out “ship timbers” but nothing about the shaft.
