just had my kids (11 & 14)watch the first season on demand and got them both hooked. cant wait for the second season to start.

not just how much they spent, I liked to see how much was spent by everybody that has looked. a lot of money for such a small island.

 

Just finished season 1 within the last few hours. Hopefully i can find season 2 to download as i dont get that channel.

I really wish I paid more attention to the money pit since i lived so close to it for most of my life.

 

I believe the current group of investors paid around $8-9mil for the island. As far as invested in digging, Idk.

If they do find anything, it will be the episode where they kick all the news media off the island. Nobody wants another Spanish incident, so I guarantee the project will go dark if they hit gold.

How could someone 300 years ago design this so well that we can't get to the bottom now? All the artifacts they find could just be planted

The people who first began this adventure didn't know about the booby traps, and in today's time that place has so much destruction (due mainly to the digging in the 19609's) that it's tough to follow any certain path to any perceived source. Just my $.02.

 

Irk it just doesn't add up for me. The episode I saw they thought they might have been shipwrecked and left the treasure there to come back later.

But to dig 100+ feet down, make traps, leave engraved clues, to just come back later to get it doesn't make sense. You would need some serious pumps to remove water from the pit that we couldn't do in the 60s Why not just bury it 5 feet down instead of making a gigantic project if you planned on coming back.

And if you wanted to make something disappear why would you leave clues. Why not just dig a pit and forget about it.

I haven't watched 2nd season, but I definitely know the 1st. Lots of theories, but the general consensus is Spanish gold (even Dan thinks that). Hell, it could be stolen Incan. As far as a shipwreck, I have no clue, but it's another theory. That it was a bank or vault makes sense. There was a lot of war in those islands at that time, so keeping spoils away from the enemy would require something shifty. I imagine the booby traps were some of the last things dug, so no worries about water at the time. If the guys today actually did find something, they would immediately have to shut down as it becomes property of Canada, no matter what they own or what permits they have. It becomes a special case due to relics - I forget what, though.

Assuming it was a swamp back then like is now it would certainly be under the water table so they would have to pump water out especially 100 feet down

I wouldn't be surprised if someone wanted to sell the island so they let the story grow and fed it by planting evidence like the gold chain and paper. They recently bought the tiny island for 9 million or so. I doubt the island would get that much without the treasure myth.

If it was some sort of gold stash why would they bury it 100+ feet down with intricate traps? Why not just dig down 5 feet and come back and easily retrieve it? Digging a small hole is pretty hard work by hand. Digging 100 feet is a massive undertaking to just refill
