Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I just picked up a new shackle mount made by Curt. Rated to 13000 pounds with a 6.5 ton WLL shackle included. This is replacing my Smittybuilt that came with a 4.75 ton WLL shackle.
$38 dollars from Amazon. Curt part 45832. It comes black. I painted it yellow. Everything I can paint is yellow, orange, or a combination of the two so it’s easier to see. So far I’m impressed. It’s very hefty and the pin holes on both axis are nice to have. Just a recommendation for a quality, affordable product. It is made in China, but there is a USA version for $115.

I did probably more searching for a shackle hitch receiver than necessary before deciding on getting one of these. I like that the opposite holes are drilled offset from each other, unlike a lot of the others, so that the cross section of steel is maximized around the pin holes. The extra length is nice too, so that you can maximize the interaction of the receiver with the hitch for off-center pulling. The higher working load of the reciever and shackle is nice as well. It appears someone put a lot thought into designing it,
