yes but it's still a loud bitch.

i changed my knob to a more solid piece, the last one had an extension so there were more parts to vibrate. the new one is quieter and the sound has changed but it's still there.

I’ve had my aluminum shift knob since about November. Rick does beautiful work, I’m really happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

    upload_2020-4-12_7-57-32.jpg

However, I was wondering if anyone has had theirs anodized? I’m not sure what goes into the process exactly and I definitely don’t want to damage it. But I was thinking a dark grey or even black might match the rest of the trim better. Any thoughts?

Well, there was this one guy who did a thing (not anodized)...it was epic.

    Not in a good way.

    Others will likely chime in

I'd be super interested in this exact combo for a '17 Tacoma AT. I've read several of the first pages and several of the last few of the thread but admittedly not the entire 120+ pages. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

The delrin ring is mounted with dowel pins into blind holes. No way of getting those out unless you want to try to drill them, which I would not recommend. (Hard roll pin in soft aluminum.)
Best best would be to mask and cerakote, but I opted instead to just go for a full delrin knob.

Delrin has excellent chemical resistance, but I do not think it can survive the acid bath for anodizing.

I thought about pre-anodizing, and then mounting the ring, but the scalloped grooves that trim the ring ends would have to break through the anodize and be filled again. Here there would be risk of chipping.

The dowel pins that affix the ring are alloy steel, and would also be eaten in the acid tank.

As far as cerakote, the Delrin can only sustain about 180F, which I believe cerakote and duracoat require higher baking temps to cure it.

I actually have 3 of these in stock, but not engraved on top yet.

It is a V2, solid aluminum with temp-resistant delrin ring & grip grooves.

Okay guys, tomorrow is the due date that I sent out to most of you. Machining is all complete, and phase 1 polishing is complete. All I need to do is finish engraving, phase 2 polish, clean and pack.

I will post another picture tomorrow, by then I should have a firm idea when they will ship.
