The trouble was that I thought I was watching when I wasn't. That problem has been fixed. I was only watching the collar thread. I really want the ball cause I gots me blacked out collar that's just fine.

And I fully get the whole demand / scarcity / dafuq problems. I've got a wait list of near 70 for a product I have 5 ready to ship and people aren't paying. I'm probably going to have to switch to a 1 day pay up or you're out mentality. But my real plan is to just build 50 and scrap the wait list. Provided I can shut it down once I'm OOS I think that is time best spent.

Machining things, though, would take me forever. Crimping, on the other hand, typically I make rather steady progress b/c I have 12 quiet hours a night and I can't sleep more than 5-6 of them.

So much good stuff from Rick. :D

Yeah. The repetitive stuff can wear on you. Like you said, best to carve out what you can and push the reset.

Looking good! So those ones on the left is that how the brass sits or is does it end up pressed inside the knob?

Not only did my new shift and e-brake boot from Redline Goods get delivered today, I find out that Rick is already in the middle of machining the titanium shift knobs! I wasn't expecting those puppies to get into production until the very end of this batch. It's awesome to see the first progress picture... this is the best Monday ever!

Now I have to resist the temptation to install these beauties until that glorious Ti shift knob gets here! :D

In a perfect world, we could be totally relaxed in structure. The world seems to have ADHD, but it just moves very quickly and folks move on to the next bit of minutia in their queue, whether planned or stumbled upon. This forum is a minefield of that. We all love excessive amounts of minutia within our interests, don't we? The ground we can cover in a single day with respect to that is always going to beat the number of products folks like us can make within that same time.

I think this is why craftspeople typically get left behind, as the masses just tend to move on to their next hit of dopamine if not locked into commitment quickly enough. We're all human, I do it too and roll my eyes at myself for doing to others what once was (annoyingly) done to me.

I leave the threads off until the very end, but it is a threaded connection. If I machine the threads too early and drop/ding it, then I have to waste time fixing them. It doesn't take much of a ding to completely trash the functionality of a thread, so best to machine them last if they are going to be sitting around being vulnerable on the shelf.

The idea is that the brass core bottoms out against the copolymer body, then the vehicle shaft screws in and bottoms out on the body as well which puts pressure on both the core and body (locking them both into place after install). Earlier versions did not do this, but these do.

Only 3, but I got enough material for 7 of them. 7th is still being processed, but I will only go as far as drilling, boring and threading 4 of them. The rest will sit until next year.

There will be a time when they reach a certain point, and probably sit for a week or two untouched.

Did you end up going any shorter than factory for the shift boot? I think the factory has a lot of extra fabric to begin with and I have a hurst short shifter so I am sure that effects it somehow. Trying to figure out what size to order if you had any insight

I ordered mine stock sized. I suppose it is a little large factory now that you mention it; but I didn't think to change it, and I admit I'd have probably been to chicken to modify the size in case it ended up not working.

Yep, same here - got the stock size. I haven't installed it yet so I'm not sure if it'll be excessively baggy or not. From what I've seen in this thread it appears @tonered, @TD90S, @fake4x4, and @Rooster OG all have Redline shift boots - probably a few others too - so maybe they have some more relevant feedback? I'll be posting tons of pictures of the boot and knob as soon as I get everything! That likely won't be for a month or so, though.

I am thinking 1.5-2.0 inches shorter should be safe. I think ultimately I might wait until I get my knob and install it to decide how much shorter I want the boot to be

I don’t find it baggy but they didn’t have any ordering options when I bought mine. The factory boot has insulation in it, or at least my 18 did. I didn’t bother to move it, I liked the slimmer look.

Mine had the insulation. I have not noticed a difference without it.
