Glad you ended up with one of these, @daveeasa. That is definitely going to be a hefty knob!!! My current knob is ~450g and it feels almost too heavy for me. You'll be slamming gears in no time!

@FloBass, how could you resist installing this on your truck? Did you have it mounted above the mantle so you could gaze upon it more often???

 It's pretty much been a paper weight next to the work laptop on my desk. Held off installing it until I got around to installing the UDR short throw shifter, which also didn't happen before I sold the truck.

If you're picking paperweights, you could do a whole lot worse.

Install should go smoothly if you have an engine hoist, but after that your life actually gets easier.

Well since I can't get on the list for the last batch. I scored myself a near perfect condition knob on the used market. Looks awesome

OK, I kind of get it now. This thing is nicer than my truck. I can see not wanting to install it and make it look bad due to the enclosure not holding up.

Update #4. Not bad for being away for a week. Most of the parts made, with the exception of a few aluminum hybrid cores, and a SS collar.

    So. Many. Parts.

Someone catch me up on the thinking behind choices of spec? Aluminum lighter than stainless and titanium expensive but in between?

Weight, bling factor, and some go aluminum purely to get the pocketed shift patterns. Those are the primary 3 reasons I'd say.

Heat is also an issue with AL. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, which you don't have to worry about.

Oh, I just watched the install video, Not sure but it sort of looks like the collar is something extra I need to buy? And maybe some shims so I can get a just-right tightness?

The pc that has TRD on it is the collar, you need to remove it to install.

And pocketed shift patterns are the top engraving of R-6? But mine, being stainless, has that so it would have just been an extra cost/hassle with stainless vs aluminum?

    Ah, found it:
The pocketed option is only available for shift patterns on aluminum, and costs no extra.

If I understand that right, it's the difference between fully machining a trough (pocketed) vs an outline (engraved?). I'm sure I'm butchering that terminology but I think I see it in the photos now. It was rather hard to see without some serious scrutiny.

So, really I just need anti-seize for the threads once I figure out if my core is Al or SS and then some sort of shim which can probably be anything roundish and non-binding-ish and a zip tie to hold the boot to the new collar. I think I got it now. A small set screw makes so much more sense than that twist-on thingy but I guess that saves them a little bit of installation time.

Gosh, I feel like I'm just starting to learn about this magical unicorn thing.

Thanks for helping me come up to speed, I thought I actually knew most of the details on this but apparently not.
