I talked to sales and they have a long wait (just like everyone else). Under normal circumstances my deposit would already be in, but .. about to put the house on the market soon (well, 90% sure of that anyway).

The world is pretty fucked, ATM. Resin supply shortages and now rubber shortages are being mentioned. Ripples all over the place.

NO WAY, though? Moving? We need to chat.

Yep, apparently, my business-related travels earlier this year were tryouts. They asked me if I wanted to move up there (Lawrence/Andover, MA area) and I declined ... TWICE, haha. Then about a month ago the hammer dropped, 38 out of 45 facilities in the network getting poofed later this year including mine. 5 out of the 7 remaining are in the states, 2 in Canada. Fun times, but they really want to keep me so that is nice ... only 1 other person in my building got that deal. Texas is an option, and I was gunning to transfer there 4 years ago so it's a no-brainer. My type of work is plentiful down there, so it doesn't even matter what happens next. GA, LA, IA are the other options I had.

That is a tough move, but it sounds like you're onboard. Congrats on making the cut.

Hopefully the fam is down with the move possiblity also.

Oh yeah, still some logistics to work out on Jenni's side, but she is 100% remote for work so it's simple. Even if something falls through (still not fully locked in yet on my side either) we're going to move anyway. I've interviewed in my area 3x so far, anecdotally speaking there are plenty of shit jobs with terrible pay and basically no benefits greasing the groove out of here.

Awesome. It sounds like wins all around.

Good luck with the listing and sale!

The last day of my current position is 11/29, so I will look to close on the house sale around then. Then, hopefully have something lined up in TX shortly after so I don't have to live in a hotel for too long. For now, business as usual until everything is 100% in motion, then it'll be a scramble to sell a bunch of things and prep the house for market. Did you already move?

Did I mention that we have a shop there already? Because we do. My friend up there was trying hard to negotiate himself into the states before he left the company. From what I've heard from him, the golden horseshoe area would not be a fun place for me.

I’m not sure, Rick, what I like better. Your attitude and approach to all of these things or the fine craftsmanship of the stuff you make.

    Cheers on the next chapter.

Yes sir, moved into the house in Hellertown last week! Me and the little lady have been cleaning constantly since then. Apparently the family that was here before us lived in perpetual filth... :annoyed: It also seems they had no idea how to maintain a house judging by the amount of things I've had to fix and replace. Haven't even had time to check out any of the new local breweries yet!

Yeah, buying and selling a house is a bunch of hurry-up-and-wait. Hopefully the market will be a little more friendly in the fall when you're in the thick of it!

Ugh, I hope you got a good deal at least.

If you plan a trip to Lost Tavern, keep an eye out for this food truck ... good stuff here.

It is owned by a restaurant near me that I'm at ... all the time. Well, I used to go there a lot, but they have only been open one night every two weeks for special events lately. I guess their food truck is making good money?!

Quick update. As many know I generally make plans to do a batch of knobs in the springtime, but I am 100% moving (pretty much asap).

I have secured free storage in a family member's barn for all machining equipment I want to keep, but I may still sell everything and rebuild if buyer offers are acceptable.

There is a chance I will be set up again in time for Feb, but depending on how things shake the next batch may get pushed to a later date.

I have 6k miles on my 6MT and already on my 3rd knob (trd off, trd pro and just got the gray TRD “ball”) and not 100% satisfied. I found this thread and read through some of it, but while I finish catching up on it, do you have some waitlist I can put my name on one these beauties for when you finish moving and get setup for another run? Also, wish you the best on your move.
