I will second that. However, please post what you are working on so we can begin saving money.

Is that the stock length boot? I see Redline Goods makes them in different lengths.
The stock boot seems to long to me.

Huh, I only see auto and manual on their site when I select the taco. When I had the oem boot off, they were the same size fwiw. When you get the boot on, with the v2 knob, you can fold down as much material as you want when you zip tie the boot to the knob. That’ll let you make the boot as tight or loose as you want. I hope this helps!

Once the parts are in the cart, they give you some options like boot length, armrest height, and mounting brackets. So, it sounds like you got the stock length boot then. That helps.

I'm thinking of going at least -2.5in since I am using a plain ball from @7r41lbr34k3r with the grommet mod.

I'm planning to update the V1.0 MT to something like this (similar to AT concept), so I should probably also have a version to do the work of a grommet.

Fiddling with this dimension has been killing me (@TeecoTaco 's knob for reference) , might have to go full V2 if I don't like the V1.1 setup.

Nice! Put me down for a grommet delete piece when you get to that point. Either black durocoat if you happen to be doing some or unfinished? An I.D. the same as the trim ring or larger would work for me. I like where the boot is sitting with the grommet mod.

Friggin' @TeecoTaco . Never making it easy. :p

Just working on the tip, huh?

I do plan to print them, simply because it has always bothered me putting metal into plastic for a twist lock. It's just a bad idea and a big reason that the V2 was even developed.

I was thinking o-rings on a taper like @duckytw did, just so it doesn't rattle around.

    Hahahaha! :laser:

    That works for me.

I'm ready whenever you are but am not in a rush. Once I painted the chrome ring, it is mostly out of my mind.

Have anything direct-thread for 2nd Gen 5spd? Without a collar?

Are you keeping the factory 2nd Gen collar? It wouldn't be very predictable for me to make something with that collar still in place, because there would certainly have to be a gap to leave room for final orientation.

I could also make a custom core for the hybrid listed for sale in the OP. It would be significantly cheaper without the titanium part, and it's already engraved for 5sp.

OE knob just spins till "good enough". I've never quite cranked it til it stopped 100%, afraid to ruin the threads of whatever poly insert is in it.
Far as the collar, I hate chrome, so maybe losing it isn't so bad. Mentally, I dread the thought of removing my center console to get to the boot's collar (4-day clutch install BS  )

The black delrin, engraved with 5spd markings would be sweet! I don't really know what weight does for me, or even what the OE weighs.

I can do it. Diameter of Tony's knob is close to 2.5", so we can go with that shape if you like big ... Knobs.

This design has no phallus, but here is its butthole.
