It is quite violent for animated, but doesn't feel over the top or anything.

I received a Rick's package. It wasn't as big as I had imagined. However, it absolutely satisfied.

On a completely serious note, this thing is really badass. The quality is so far beyond what I could have imagined.

I recommend everyone read the shimming instructions. I was lazy and just started cutting shims. Went through more than half of the yellows. Which was a pretty thick shim. Probably went around more than one turn.

    Orientation/Installation instructions

When you screw your new shift knob onto your truck, there is a good chance that it will become tight at an incorrect orientation. I couldn't use the same orientation method of the stock knob, because there would be too high a risk of galling the threads (further explanation here). Outlined below is my shim method.

Note the yellow square at the bottom of the thread (pics below) ... that is where the supplied shim(s) go. I supplied enough of each color for you to cut a few of each to proper size. Reference the chart below for thickness of the color coded shim stock.

The thread pitch for all versions is 0.0492125 per turn, so if you place a yellow shim (.020 thick) down there it will net to a little less than half of a turn difference. Two yellow shims and two blue (.005) shims will get you right back where you started, if that makes sense ... because their thickness will add up to just above the pitch of the thread.

Whatever solution you end up with, prep a blue shim and keep it in your cup holder, because the shaft on your truck will compress/settle the shims about that much over the first couple days.

Here are the colors and their thicknesses of the shim stock that I use. I don't always send the same colors, so here are all of them.

**Warning**, do NOT use tools to tighten the knob as overtorquing can cause damage(same goes for folks with great hand strength). It is better to play it safe by taking a few seconds to re-shim than it is to force orientation and risk damaging your truck.

Updating the orientation info just so I can use a single link. It can always be found in my signature, and if you are on mobile make sure you are viewing in landscape mode to see it. My old links are too wordy anyway.

I see myself more as the eternal student, hard for me to swallow that ... but I do appreciate it!

The pride part is dead on, though ... couldn't be happier how all of this transpired right here on the boards. This shift knob project has come a long way, and hasn't even been year yet. Still open to tweaking more design features out of it, too ... just haven't been able to think of anything worthy.
