to OP, for the Auto, it might just have to switch to 3d printing the collar pieces because that looks horribly complex for what it needs to do.

The machining wouldn't be *too* bad when just considering ONLY the internals, but part of it would have to be made from Acetal/Delrin, or something that will flex for it to clip into place just like the stock knob.

But yeah, matching the weird Mazda-rotor-shape of the chrome collar is what has me in agreement with you. Making a collar myself to resolve that issue only creates installation complexity. 3D machining the shape of the collar puts the price in no-man's land. Printing solves it all.

I have a printer, but it isn't anywhere near as quality as @mesojdm 's stuff. I wouldn't want to sell the stringy messes that my printer would shart out.

Funny fact, I'm actually a machinist (run HAAS all day at my regular job) milling billet Aluminum mostly. I just like to dabble on our 3D printer because it a heck of a lot easier than fixture setup(right click, PRINT). If you have CAD for the shifter collar, I'm more than happy to collaborate and make some test parts for ya;)

Just used model paint with a small brush. I dabbed the paint on then removed the excess with a t-shirt rag and paint thinner.

That's awesome, and I think we could definitely tackle this together. I will work on the CAD as soon as I get a shifter to take measurements from.

I'll just buy one if nobody has one available to send me.

I don't want to get any hopes up, but I just scored some material for 2 more stainless. The process is proven out, but there is always a small chance that I lose them to human error at some point along the way. Let me know if you still want them, and what engravings you wish to have.

PM's are fine if you would rather discuss there.

I'm wondering if the manual boot ring would fit in place of the auto boot ring so us auto guys could use these awesome knobs?

Awesome news! Been lurking for a few days reading up on these in hopes that a SS would be available soon. I really want the added weight of the SS knob.

By chance, does anybody know how the three knobs compare weight wise? By 3 I mean OEM vs aluminum vs SS. Specifically, what is the weight of he OEM knob and how much more does the aluminum one weigh?

My OEM is 180g, but it's not the leather wrapped version that you have. I imagine they are similar.

Aluminum is in the vicinity of 300g, and stainless is 850g.
