Here we go. This was in 2013 about a week after I got the thing:

Like the Taco, it was a struggle to not mod it. From the sale listing:

    SOON...
18 degrees here this morning. My aluminum/Delrin knob was cold, but not unbearable to my bare hand.

For those of y'all in the middle of the polar vortex where it's -18 degrees, are you going with gloves or the "sock method"? :D

-5 for me, and I just had a running glove on.

Nice to finally put these through proper paces of winter. So far, so good ... *crosses fingers*

-40 is the lower limit of delrin, seems to hold true even within the context of how I am using it.

Same temp here, but I made the mistake of listening to the MoFo TV weatherperson instead of checking the weather apps. The jerkoff said heavy rain this afternoon, so I didn't roll the bike out to ride. They were completely wrong.

So cold that I can't heat the garage up to the lathe's circulating oil pour point (41F). Won't be able to run that until Sat or Sun. Looks to be "warm" all next week though, so I'll have to hit the back row hard to get 'em out by the 8th as planned.

If I am still doing this next winter, there will be a permanent solution in place by the time cold hits (likely propane). I do have a wood stove that could be used, but used intermittently it would cause condensation issues with the machinery.

Here are some old listing photos from before I purchased the house.

This setup would really kick ass if I could feed it wood non-stop.

I have one in my basement, and it's super fiddly. Once I get it running it is pretty reliable for the season, but it always takes a solid week of nonsense to get there. Sometimes it doesn't come back on and needs a manual reset, which would be a day ruiner out in the shop.

Been wanting to replace this with another wood stove, so maybe I can swap the two out ... guessing the chimneys would both need work for that though. Might be worth an estimate, but I dunno ... my poor anecdotal experience leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth with regard to pellet stoves. It could be the best idea in the world, but I'm stubborn.

I've never had to put more than a bag per day in, so it would be good as long as I stayed on top of it.

Maybe I could train this fella to load the wood stove, he certainly loves the one in the house.
