When I was a kid those yellow leaf spring traction deals were referred to as slapper bars. The bar that I have would have been called a ladder bar.

I really wasn’t trying to educate the OP in proper terminology. I was simply trying to make the point that a custom driveshaft isn’t going to do anything for axle wrap.

Whatever way you want to go, or call it, you need to keep the axle from twisting the leafs to correct axle wrap.

But we all know this. Including the OP at this point

Well, since you want to bring ladder bars into it...you'd need two, and they'd need to be welded to the tubes :D

    Great setup you have there.

    lol! I’m leaving now.

And since we are talking proper terminology... Setup that I HAD. I’m parting the truck out as we speak.

    It’s getting serious in here...

Do you have the budbuilt or another version? If it is another version what is it? If you do have the budbuilt does it weld in? Website says completely bolt on.
Anyway, I was looking at it for my 2015 Magnuson SC to control wrap and hop, but saw this. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/crazy-leak-from-the-rear-end-overnight.548948/

There is another option. Better than the yellow slapper bars. Articulates properly.

Hang lower than the 3rd member mounted style.

3rd member and CalTracs are the best two, but choice will fit the individual's needs.

All of that additional strengthening for responsiveness, and left the hubs to weak so so split apart at the lugs.... Must have been different teams. Lol

    Thank you for that.
Apologies for the questions, you've probably already answered them somewhere.
Didn't realize there were different versions. Why did you choose to weld it?
What is your opinion of it? If you have a post already reviewing it feel free to point me to it.

well, i asked them about that. if youre violent/ trying to break things you possibly could. aside from wrecking the truck they clain not to have issues. i would consider @Torspd for buying one. hes done far more research than myself.

What are you specifically looking for here? These two are related but solve different problems.

Like vibes on hard launches are usually because 2 piece shafts suck, rear driveline lacks a CV so any angle change is going to cause vibes, and the stock springs are mush which allow axle wrap which causes the vibe on take off.

Now any type of arm and this isn't really to get into the specifics of design is going to help eliminate wrap whether from hard launches or hopping on an obstacle. This will help with keeping driveline vibes down but isn't really a cure for vibes. It just happened s to minimize operating angles by design.

I will say that I had a truck with super low gears, lockers, large tires, and tall springs but never had wrap where I needed the torque arm. The springs we're designed to keep it to a minimum.

So can you give us a bigger picture here?

I have the 6 spd MT, geared a little low in my opinion. I have basically stock tires, 275/70R16 BFG Rugged Terrains. Stock springs, no lift. Yet. Combined with the light bed and my lack of self control, I get a lot of wheel hop when accelerating and traction breaks, which is surprisingly often and unintentional. The thing just bounces and does not put the power down. I do not think it is a traction control issue. I am having a Magnuson supercharger installed next week (more on that in a future post), and I'm sure it will get worse.
I'm not sure if I have identified any vibrations really, wheel hop is the main issue.
I liked the idea of a torque arm, as I understand it is basically one centrally mounted traction bar. I like that it does not seem to hang down too low and is not all that visible.
Can you describe vibe vs axle wrap and wheel hop?

Driveline vibes are a shuddering you feel typically during a hard launch or heavy deceleration in gear which is when the axle moves typically furthest out of its operating angle on the driveshaft. With a non-CV rear shaft or a 2 piece it gives you a bit of shudder. Most bandaids are messing with the carrier bearing but it is hard to beat a CV 1 piece shaft to mitigate this. You will feel it most with a manual right in the shifter and your seat.

Axle wrap and wheel hop are the axle and tires breaking traction. The axle will wrap meaning it rotates the pinion up and down as the leaf springs wrap in an S shape allowing this to happen. This gives you vibrations in the driveline but it also shakes the whole truck and it pretty harsh on the driveline. Wheel hop is just the tire skipping on the pavement.

If you are beating this thing hard and feeding it more power, you probably would benefit from everything and maybe a better differential.

A good set of springs may solve your problem but if you driving it hard maybe that and a torque arm. A limited slip diff like a Truetrac would distribute the power better then an open diff. Tough to say...like you put a torque arm in to mitigate the axle wrap but you still are feeding a good amount of power to an open diff on a pickup with a light bed.

vibes off the line i still have. with driveline angles perfect. the trac bar solved my axle wrap. e- load 33's, and a pumped up s/c I Can do aggressive burnouts. my lift with a stock driveshaft is my problem for vibes. bought a spacer for my driveline but may say eff it and get a one piece. i also have a trutrac rear end, with what id call a mid travel.
