Custom grill screen

On a recent buying trip overseas I stumbled onto this cool looking aluminum, so I imported a couple of sheets. This is not perforated metal but forged. It is over 1/4" thick (.278" to be exact), so it is very strong and light. Unlike a lot of perforated metal that I see being used, this stuff does not impeded air flow. I think it would be awesome grill material. I've never seen anything like it in the US. I'm selling some of the extra for $20/sq foot as long as it lasts. I'll cut to order. A typical gen 2 Tacoma grill would be about $45 + shipping

No, I haven't had time yet! I've been looking for the right material for a while. This stuff is perfect for what I want. I'm looking for other places to use it too.

 

Are you planning on just cutting your old fromg out and placing that in? I'm dieing to do something with my grill.

Yea, something like that. There are many tutorials online for doing this. I'm hoping that this beefier grill will be easier to work with. I may also screen in the center section area of my ARB bumper.

If you, or anyone else has a spare OEM grill for an 07, I'll trade for a section of screen. That way I can get mine done sooner and show you

I thought so too! One thing about it, you will have something pretty unique and functional. My grill opening measures 10 inches tall, and the cells in this mesh come out even at just a little over 10 1/4", so it should look really nice in that space. You cut it through that little rib that connects the cells.

 

Are you gonna do the small triangle parts of the grill as well, or just leave them alone?

I'm going to leave them because I think they complement the honeycomb mesh just fine.

Nice looking truck Danial! Well, except for the grill, LOL. But seriously, Toyota really missed the mark on the grill design.

 

Yeah I have been looking for a new one i found a few on eBay and other places but yeah just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

 

I've seen tons of grills I like, but I'm not paying 200+ for a grill!
