    Hello all,

I have been in search high and low for a custom gun rack that will fit in the space behind the back seat with no luck and only frustrations.
So today is the day, I will begin to cut the boards for a spot to hold up to two rifles perfectly and make custom slots for jumper cables,
truck tools, tow straps, flashlight, and a box of chocolates (hoes love chocolate).

Any hints or suggestions, feel free to share. I will post pictures the best that I can to show what I do so that someone in the
future can make this for themselves.

EDIT: A few things I would change:
    1) dont wear "fit" jeans while working on any part of this project.. this will cause an extreme amount of frustration when climbing in the back seat
    2) Don't use felt, I would suggest getting the type of carpet that covers subwoofer boxes and such. The felt will stretch slightly and wont look as clean

    Materials Needed:
Saw (Table saw or Circular saw)
Router, dremel, or jigsaw (for cutting out holes in plywood)
    Drill and drillbits
Interior wood screws 3" long by 7 is what I used.
Black felt (Get enough to cover the entire finished product, I draped it over it and started stapling it in, you could also glue it,
    depends what you prefer)
Staple gun or adhesive for felt to board.

    Begin:
(Disclaimer: Measure twice cut once, no piece of board is the same)

Remove Plastic from behind back seat. 5 or 6 easy bolts. Keep those to use for install.

Start with a 4x8x3/4 of plywood. I had some left over.
Cut your first piece to 18 3/4" high by 48" long.

Measuring and Cutting slots for anchors and bolts

From the top of the board, 5" down. (Drawing a horizontal line across the entire board would probably help at this point.)

Then draw a second horizonal line 7 3/4" from the top.

These two lines will be your top and bottoms of the boxes you cut for the anchors.

Then, from left to right on the front of the board, measure and mark at:
    9 3/8"
    24"
    38 3/4"

These will be the center lines for your boxes.
Boxes will be 2" wide so measure 1" left and right from the dots you just marked. Then use a straight edge and draw lines to finish those three boxes.

Once those are finished, you will need to use either a dremel tool, router, jigsaw, whatever you want to cut out the three squares.

You will need to drill holes to bolt the board to the back of the truck. I used the bolts from the stock plastic.
I would advise double checking these bolt placements as very slight differences in how the boards are cut will yield different bolt placement.
Mine were just slightly over the bottom line. Measuring from right to left at
    1 1/2".
    13"
    21"
Measuring from right to left at
    1 1/2".

    Bottom Piece Measurements
You will need to cut a board for the base that will drill in to the back. I measured mine at 4 3/8" deep by the standard 48"long.

Once that board is cut, you will need to cut out a section for where your back seat anchors to the metal.
Measure from right to left and mark at 17 3/4" and 19". Cut out this section of board.
If you look at the metal anchor, you will see a bolt on the right side, you will need to cut out another little square on your board to fit over it.
    About 1 1/2 Sq inches.

    Front Piece Measurements
Measure and cut a board 6 3/4"x48". Then measure the same cut outs for the anchor from the chair.
(Measure from right to left and mark at 17 3/4" and 19". Cut out this section of board. )

    Side piece Measurements
    I measured my board at 4 3/8x48
    Cut it in half
    Measured 6" and marked
On the other side measured 17 3/4 and marked.
You will be cutting a diagonal line to look like this. For these to look identical, clamp them and cut them at the same time.

    Time to put it together
Drill the back and front board into the bottom, drill all boards into the sides.
The side boards are on the inside of the box. All screws are going in to it.

Then the felt. I draped all the felt I had over the box and went nuts with a staple gun. Spray adhesive might work too.
I cut X's over the squares and pulled the felt through and stapled it to the back.

    Gun holding ideas:
Velcro, quick fists, I havent decided on mine yet. But I will be adding things as I go and will take pictures to update.

I hope this helped! If you have any questions feel free to ask. This is my first project thread so if it sucks I will
need to know what I can do to improve it

    Gun Mounted

I mounted the gun as high up as I could. The back of the seat is touching the bolt handle when the seat is back. This actually held the gun tight while I was driving. There is still enough space for one more gun to be mounted directly underneath. I will decide later whether I want to fit a 3rd gun mount in the base depending on whether I will hold ammo, tie downs, or other stuff down there instead.

While driving, the gun didnt make a single noise which was great.
The mounts I used were awesome, the pads in them that decide whether the butt or barrel goes in can be switched so the gun doesnt have go to in one way or the other. Any questions??

I was thinking quick fists. If those custom ridgeback racks weren't so expensive that would be perfect!

Hahahaha I don't even know how to respond to that. I would like to make them custom, the only issue is that I don't only have 1 gun! Haha. Quick fists would be the most generic and get the job done securely for now. Until I have something I am always keeping locked in the truck you know?

Just fucking with you dude. It was a quick search that's all. Looks good BTW. You could rack on there about 4 rifles if you find the right system. Not to mention handguns, jesus, if you position an assortment of handguns correctly, I would say you could fit what 4 or 5 of them.

You would be a regular columbine psycho of you did it right.

Yeah man that's the goal. I hunt a bunch with buddies so the problem is finding a system that can hold my gun as well as adjusting to hole several others. It's definitely gonna rack up an ar-15, couple handguns, shotgun, and 2 rifles. I'm gonna Tetris the shit outta that thing until I'm content.

Edit: The guardian scabbard is too bulky, the plain rifle scabbard works great. I live just a couple miles from their store, so it's easy for me to try before I buy.
