[IMG]i actually made a warm air intake with two of these u could use instead of silicone. they run like $9 at lowes. mine through codes about every 1000 miles or so. issues with the maf i guess. did u just drill a hole in the pvc for ur maf and screw it to it?

just curious...................... have any ideas about MAF turbulence?

Gadget had IIRC 7 test spots used to find the best position for the MAF sensor and used some pricey tools to measure the airflow

Without fancy computer software or flow monitoring tools there is no way to test how much turbulence he will have at the MAF. By sticking it close to the opening before the bends it should be minimal but you never know for sure.

Even the 1st generation of Volant CAI for the 2nd gen Tacoma's use to throw codes because they didn't do enough testing. There new intake is a totally new design and took several revisions to come up with.

This is true and from what I understand Toyota Motor spent nearly 11 Million on the Tundra / Tacoma intake development ( which ultimately resulted in the 2nd Gen TRD design on Tundra that translated over to the Tacoma ) which is why it is a fact that CAIs on a naturally aspirated 2nd Gen Tacoma is not required. More free flowing air filter in the Factory Intake Box is really all one need do.

Fujita Japan did do the all the required testing and if you look up the data at the .jp site it is all there. That filter does what it was design to do, which namely is to straighten out the air deflecting off the specifically designed cone so that there is minimal turbulence on vehicles configured with the MAF in close proximity to the air filter. Nissan was the worst offender for this but all vehicles with this design configuration benefit from less turbulence across the MAF.

Forced induction how ever is a whole different ball game ! ! !

Yeah i used my chop saw to make a flat spot on the abs then drilled a hole for the maf to tightly fit and then black sensor safe rtv to hold it in and seal it.

    So far no codes.

I see it at every truck meet I go to. So does everyone else who asks to see under my hood. The tech who checked my battery status this fall at Toyota also saw it. I'd prefer him not to see plumbing parts. Like I said though if it doesn't throw codes it should work well for you. To each his own.
