Cool, I'm in Oakland. Let me know if you would be interested in building some of these out—I can get you some measurements and templates, help pay for prototype materials, etc. The 5th gen guys would really appreciate something like this, especially for the hatch. OEM lighting is terrible when you actually need to use it, upgrading the festoon bulbs just doesn't cut it.

I'm a bit of an electrics dummy, how have people been rewiring the domes so that the switch is on/off regardless of the door?

Thanks, that helped. Got the assembly disconnected from the roof, but couldn't see how to get access to the wiring and there wasn't a lot of slack. I'll have to take another look at it when I have some more light.

    Edit: Oh, right. :worthless:

    So many choices!

Hey @mesojdm that plastic you used in the power connector is pretty cheap ass stuff. Might wanna take that into consideration for the next version...

I've sold 250+ Ultimate domes and I can count on 1 hand the number of bulb adapters that have broke. Don't worry, just PM me your address and I'll send you a few for backup.

Can't you just put the spring back on the plastic end, slide the who who dilly in the cha cha, install it and let tension do the rest ?

Had to wait for it to be dark to snap some pics. Installed both the white ultimate dome light and some smoked v1s I got secondhand from another TWer. I dig the smoked map with ultimate white dome combo. Also did the door trigger disconnect mod for the dome light. MESO kills it.

If you are just installing the light (without the door trigger disconnect), then you just carefully pop off the clear plastic housing with a small flathead screwdriver. Then remove the incandescent bulb. Connect you new dome light, make sure it works by testing the light (I already forget whether the copper connector was positive or negative). Then remove the adhesive protectors and pop the ultimate dome into place. Voila.

Is there a way to have the map lights off and only dome come on when you open the doors?

Hey Meso, My white ultimate dome light stopped working. It would sometimes only be lightly illuminated and then stopped working completely. Started when it was colder in MN and has gone down hill since. Any chance I could order a new one?20180424_205334.jpg

Timeout. Adhesive protectors? The film on the back of the led boards is supposed to be removed? I had no idea... left mine in and the maps and dome both are working just fine.
