Custom LED Map and Dome lights

So I just got back from Rim Country AZ myself and am installing the map and dome lights but there are no instructions. I don’t see how those little pins at the end of the map light wires that came installed on the LED’s plug into anything? The extra ones that came with the lights that were loose in the box slide into the old bulb housing i assume but they aren’t attached to the LED’s.

Am I supposed to remove the ones that came attached and replace them with the ones that aren’t? They do plug into each other but then they don’t fit in the housing. And it makes no sense since you could have just installed them int the first place without the pins?

Kind of confused? Can anybody shed some light - pun intended...

 

The connector with the pins sticking out go into the connector with the bulb adapter. If you have the bulb part installed already than just feed the wires and connectors into the hole and twist the cap in. The bulb only work in certain polarity so if they don't work then match the red wire to the black wire or vice versa.
Also as stated prior if the bulb adapter doesn't fit snugly in the twist cap then lightly pry the tabs in the cap in towards the middle and it should hold them correctly. Hope this helps.

 

Think I figure it out plugged them into each other and made them fit. Still don’t know why they just don’t come with the proper end already attached. Seems to me it would make more sense.

 

The loose one that came in the package plugs into the LED and then the large end goes into the console where the original bulb plugs in. It will all fit in there! And they are polarity sensitive so if you plug it in and nothing happens flip it around and try again.

Just got an email 2 mins ago saying dual colour gen2 map lights are in stock. Went to check out and already out of stock. @MESO Are they really out of stock already?

 

Figured it out turn neither is working. Gonna have to check the fuse now to make sure

Edited to add it’s definitely not the fuse since the dome light is working.

Update 10: now the dome light isn’t working either even though I haven’t touched it since I got to t working. WTF!?

 

Sorry, was updating website and hit the wrong button. 2nd gens are not in stock sorry.

3rd gens are finicky, if 1 side isn’t properly oriented, the other side map won’t work. Just flip them around until both sides are working. Also double check the stock socket brass contacts are making proper contact on the new adapter plug

 

Any ETA?

 

I’ve flipped them every which way and the only thing I could get them to do at one point was to get one side lit up although it wouldn’t turn off. Now neither is working. I’m getting frustrated. I wired up my Indian motorcycle with multiple strings and connections of led’s and it wasn’t this hard.

I got the dome light working at least after the little metal end cap on the connector popped off the first time I was plugging it in.

 

I got that but why not just make the one wire with the proper end already attached? Seems silly to split them up and make two connections.

 

These are BRIGHT. I never knew how much I needed these until I had them.

Thinking I should have gone all red though, anyone want to trade red for white maps? PM me

 

Yeah man I screamed like a little girl when I went to the website to drop some coin & they were all gone

 

Replaced fuse that blew. Dome light works. Map lights do not work no matter what combo I use. The best it will do is I can get one side to light if I plug the wires in opposite each other - black red/red black. But it won’t turn off. If I put the halogens back in they work fine just as they’re supposed to so definitely a problem with the LED’s.

I had to set everything back to stock so I can take it to the dealer now because the map lights will not come off and they were getting super hot.

Also the dome light plug basically grenaded during install with the first few seconds.





Little metal nd cap came flying off. He just pm’ed that he would send me another set but honestly now I have larger concerns...

 

Just to make sure (not being a jerk) - along with making certain the switch is in the correct place (off, door, on switch), you also pushed the cover up to make sure the switch wasn't hit while putting the covers back on? Some people honestly don't know that pushing the cover hits a switch that turns the lights on and off as well.

There is button you need to push under the clear cap. Should reset after pressing it

 

Just making sure. Wish it was an easier fix. Unfortunately, sometimes that's what happens when doing mods.
