I think I’m gonna try taking it over to the dealer in the morning and see if they can’t give me some help to put the stock bulbs back in and they’re not working either

Map lights have an on/off button that are triggered by pushing the outside edges of the lenses. More than likely you hit them when installing the lights and they are now in the off position. Take something like a pen or pencil point and hit them again to reset them to the on position. I think that’s what some are calling the “reset” button.

It’s not an actual reset. It’s either on or off.

It's not just his map lights. From what little information he has provided, I gather it is all interior lights (dome, visors, maps etc). The map lights do have their own on/off, but they are dependent on the position of the main on/off/door switch. If that is on, and the map lights don't come on (with the dome light) when you open the door there is something else wrong.

If it helps anyone with this install, and this may be super basic, but it could help someone:

The contacts on the sides with the red wires are positive, and should be oriented towards the LEFT aka towards the driver's side for every interior light (for left-hand drive Tacomas, anyway).

Also, make sure to match your colors - red to red, and black to black.

I work in the electrical field. You'd be surprised.

This actually wasn’t the case for my adapter. Likely the wires were swapped in manufacturing because red had to go with black on the 2pin connector. This was on my dome light. It had a loose wire anyways which caused intermittent flickers if holding the wire. I switched it out for my old dome adapter- which is as you described

Huh. Guess I can't speak for errors in the manufacturing process, just trying to provide a general rule of thumb

I got you, but it would of still worked if the wire wasn’t loose

Mine were backwards too. Another reason I had problems.

Got my map and dome in and it’s brighter than my future. I disconnected my battery while installing and connected it to test. Then disconnected again and flipped the connector around and it works. Thanks for the tips fellas :taco:

I was in amazed how bright the dome and maps were. First time opening the doors in the dark I was like "MESO blinded!"

Don't be, it's rather simple, just an inordinate amount of drama for some folks it would seem. Take your time. It will be a little difficult to squeeze the spring adapter to fit into the bulb socket, it is a tight fit. The best suggestion is to make sure the dome light is turned off (no power to light), disconnect the light from this adapter to install. Once you get it in there, hook the dome light back to the adapter and apply power. if it works, install the dome the rest of the way, you're in business. If it does not, simply reverse the connector (reverse polarity), and try again, it should work. No need to take the adapter back out of the socket. This is the method I and many others have successfully used. Don't hesitate to ask questions, there are dicks in every bag around here, trick is to learn how to avoid them. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for the support, comments, criticism, and suggestions on my product!
Every release I learn something new, and use that information to better the next version.

I have a handful of map/domes left and I will be listing them later in the week.

    Now for V2 Map/Domes Info.
    There are a few tricks up my sleeve for the next versions;
    1) DUAL COLOR-Yes I have listened. And it seems a dual color(white/red) Map and dome is long overdue. You WILL loose a little light output just because I had to split up half color(60%white, 40% red) but will still have better output than most aftermarket LED bulbs.
    2) DIODE BRIDGE- WTF? V2's will have this little magical on board chip. This will make installation a breeze. What does this thing do? In a nut shell, you can't plug the light in the wrong way. It takes regular or reversed polarity and changes it the correct way. So even if you plug it in backwards( +, -) the light will still work. No more guessing on the plug orientation.
    3) MESO PLUGZ-These little adapters I designed to plug into where the stock bulb was. It has worked for the most part, but some users are reporting it is not making a tight connection into the OEM socket. I am going to make a new version that is wider and hopefully fit more snug.

    Stay tuned!

    Heck ya!

I thought you replaced the fuse to be sure? Your replacement was blown too.

push the contacts in and it will be tight again

You know I put in a new fuse but I don’t know I think it might’ve had something to do with pulling the terminals off and resetting the battery computer and then put the new fuse in but whatever it was I got it fixed so I appreciate all your help

I just got my map lights, and maybe I'm missing something, but I can get them to work. I tried every configuration I could. I think its a bad connection? They lit up a couple times but overall they wont stay on.
Any suggestions? I got the dome light working fine.

Do the connectors fit tightly into the socket or are they loose? If there loose try to bend the copper/bronze contact points in a little bit. If you scroll back a couple pages @MESO posted about it with a picture.
