I'm not sure if simply turning the lights off would work. I never saw instructions on the box itself to disconnect the battery. However, I would have. My map lights didn't have those instructions (as far as I can remember).

Like many others I thought it was gonna be a quick plug and play (as @MESO advertised it--which it is). But for whatever reason, it killed a fuse.

To save yourself a headache (and any body aches if you can't bend down so well), disconnect the battery to be safe.

Luckily for me, I had a 7.5 amp fuse lying around so changing it out was relatively easy (and didn't require a special trip to Autozone).

Hope this helps ya out some!

By any chance you have the dome black trim? I broke one clip like a dumbass... it hangs good but I want to replace it at some point... I ask cause I see you got the molle rack.

If you're talking about the housing, the Molle Rack still uses the OEM housing. My particular one has a spacer to bring it down. Better pic here. Sorry!

@MESO has a new spacer design as seen at the end of his post here.

I think I understand what you're saying. You are referring to looking at the LEDs at certain angles, a person would see a yellowish color/yellow phosphor coating whether the light is on or off.

What I was referring to is the light emitting from the LEDs seems slightly yellowish, meaning when I look at the back seat area with the dome light being on, the color is slightly yellowish or not as white and I can see a difference compared to Meso's original map and dome lights.

This probably wouldn’t be too hard. I’m not sure about using the small button in the center of the light, but if you used a SPST say in the overhead or something, I think it would be doable. I’ll look at my Meso light tomorrow or Saturday and see what would be involved.

Yeah I think it could be easily modded. Basically on the back you would have to cut A trace on the circuit board and jump around it

@MESO Thinking more about this, I bet you could build one light that does both the way you have it now, and the way I was saying. Using some jumper pins on the backside of the pcb and a extra plug.
If someone wants it the way you set it up, then jumper pins 1 and 2 (or something) and plug in the bulb, but leave the pig tail unplugged.
If someone wants it the way I said, then jumper pins 3 and 4 (or something) and plug in the pigtail and the bulb.

Might require a few more traces to be installed, but It would make for a good new "next version". Final version "gamer mode" with rgb music reactive lights.

Has anyone else here had any issues with one of the corners popping out when trying to install (for me it would be the driver side toward the front of the car). To me, it feels like it is just slightly too short to line up perfectly. For some reason it took several tries to get it to stay in place and really only did bc I kinda used the longer tabs in the back to hold that front side in place. It works fine and hasn’t moved since I installed it that way, I was just curious if I was doing something wrong or if other people had the same issue (hopefully my explanation makes sense).

I will say I’m very happy with the light output! It lit up my whole garage!

Upgraded from all red to dual color. Now it's always on. Anyone else have this problem?

Is the map light location switch set to the correct position?

@kairo’s guest house having a water with @not_nick
    Under development
Just got my dual color installed, looks great! Had planned on the dual brightness, but have to wait on that until @MESO offers it in the dim/bright version instead of the really bright and Extremely bright :boink:
But I’m a big fan of the dual color, and I got a sticker this time :bananadance:

In what situations are the red LEDs helpful? Trying to decide between Dual Color and Dual Brightness.

Multiple. Most people will answer its useful while camping, which is true. I bought it because sometimes my passenger needs a little bit of light to futz around while we are going somewhere at night, and I don't want to be...

This is absolutely 100% facts. It does not put out the same kelvin or hue as the original set. No matter you wanna spin it.

The new dome light like I said earlier appears to be brighter because it’s more of a pure white and no blue tinge to it. At least that’s how it is on the dual red and white.

Can you make us a diagram to do this... I would love to have it this way too. That way the kids can just hit the middle button at anytime to read. Instead of it turning on white first then switching it to red. I always leave it on white so when o walk up to my truck I can see inside the cab. Hahaha
