    So after trying the Ultimate white combo, and Ultimate red combo, I (like many others) have decided on Ultimate Red maps and Ultimate White dome, and did the dome disconnect mod (dome comes on with switch, not with doors)

    When I had all white, my wife turned on her map light during a night road trip to find something and I nearly ran off the road. I literally had to hold my hand up in front of my face as if it was the sun at high noon.
    Then I swapped to all red. I personally love the appearance of that combo, and it is plenty of useable light for me. The wife, however, doesn't share my opinion in that regard. But we know that some people want their amenities and I respect that.
    Then I swapped in the white dome but left the red maps. This way, if someone needed light during night driving, I wouldn't crash and kill us all after being blinded by a laser in my eye. But if we truly need bright light, I have the white dome that can be seen from space.

    Then I got tired of the white dome blinding me when i turned the truck off to get out at night. So I did the dome disconnect mod. That way, the dome won't come on with the doors, but only with the switch on the dome itself. This way, I have my red maps to let me see while getting in and out.

    Yup, this is my favorite configuration. Red maps, white dome, with dome wire disconnect. Enough light from the maps without being blinding, and the option to switch on the dome manually when more light is needed.

    Few pages back. Basically pulling the dome housing down and disconnecting the "door trigger" wire so the dome light now becomes a true ON/OFF with the switch(which it is not now)

    No smoked maps in stock at he moment. And there is no smoked dome at all, just regular white.
